Remote Station information

What is a remote station?

Remote Station jobs typically refer to positions that are based in isolated or distant locations, often for the purpose of supporting operations such as research, telecommunications, energy production, or transportation. Employees working in remote stations may be responsible for monitoring equipment, maintaining facilities, collecting data, or ensuring the smooth operation of essential services. These roles can be found in a variety of industries, including scientific research (like polar research stations), mining, oil and gas extraction, and satellite communications. Working in a remote station often requires adaptability, self-sufficiency, and the ability to work in challenging environments. Many employers provide specialized training and support for those taking on these unique roles.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote station operator?

To thrive as a Remote Station Operator, you need strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and typically a background in electronics or communications. Familiarity with remote monitoring systems, SCADA software, and relevant safety certifications are commonly required. Problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to work independently are crucial soft skills for this role. These competencies ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of remote facilities, minimizing downtime and responding promptly to issues.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working at a remote station, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals working at remote stations often face challenges such as limited access to immediate support, isolation from larger teams, and difficulties with resource availability. To address these, it's important to establish strong communication routines with off-site colleagues, utilize remote collaboration tools, and proactively plan for supply or equipment needs. Many organizations also encourage regular check-ins and provide support networks to help remote station staff feel connected and supported in their roles.

Job description

Are you a diagnostic radiologist looking for a rewarding, no-call position with strong volume and unmatched schedule flexibility? We are expanding our team and invite you to join a well-established private practice serving one of the most dynamic health systems in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a rare chance to join a stable, high-performing radiology group embedded within a major integrated health system - without the burden of overnight or weekend call. You will read for a broad, clinically rich case mix across 9 Abrazo facilities, with the flexibility to shape your schedule to fit your life.
Two distinct positions are available:
ONSITE DAYTIME RADIOLOGIST
  • Onsite coverage at Abrazo West Campus or Abrazo Arrowhead Campus
  • Hands-on, facility-based practice with direct clinical collaboration
  • No procedures required; very limited fluoroscopy

REMOTE (TELERADIOLOGY) DAYTIME RADIOLOGIST
  • Work from a fully equipped home reading station - provided by the group
  • Read for the same 9-facility network from wherever you are
  • Maximum schedule flexibility with no geographic limitations

SCHEDULE & VOLUME
  • No nights, no weekends, no call
  • Daytime hours only: approximately 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. AZ time
  • Approximately 40-42 weeks of daytime coverage per year; specific weeks determined by mutual agreement
  • Flexible volumes with up to 13 wRVUs per hour if desired

FACILITIES COVERED
Coverage across 9 Abrazo facilities - 6 hospitals, 2 free-standing emergency centers, and 1 micro-hospital - including a Level I Trauma Center.
RESOURCES & EQUIPMENT
  • 24/7 reading room and IT support
  • Full home reading station provided for the remote position
  • Sectra PACS - Powerscribe 1
  • AI implementation coming soon
  • Modern imaging infrastructure across all 9 facilities
  • Broad subspecialty case mix reflective of a large, integrated system with a Level I Trauma Center

WHY JOIN US?
  • Compensation structured well above the 90th percentile by wRVU, with expected annual earnings approaching $1M for physicians working at full volume - available for both remote and onsite positions
  • No call - ever. No nights, no weekends, full stop
  • Generous 12 weeks of PTO per year
  • Established private practice with long-standing hospital relationships
  • Flexible volumes with up to 13 wRVUs per hour if desired - you set the pace
  • Remote and onsite options to match your lifestyle
  • Broad, academically stimulating case mix without the academic medicine overhead
  • Work for one of the largest healthcare networks in Arizona

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
  • MD or DO with ABR board certification or board eligibility in Diagnostic Radiology
  • Active Arizona medical license or eligibility to obtain
  • Comfortable with general diagnostic radiology across a multi-facility environment
  • Teleradiology candidates should have a suitable home reading environment
