What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Stadium Architect, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Stadium Architect, you need a strong background in architectural design, structural engineering principles, and experience with large-scale sports facility projects, typically supported by an architecture degree and licensure. Proficiency with advanced design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM systems, as well as collaboration tools for remote work, is essential. Exceptional communication, project management, and problem-solving skills help you coordinate with diverse global teams and stakeholders effectively. These skills and qualifications are crucial for delivering innovative, compliant, and functional stadium designs in a collaborative and distributed work environment.

What are some unique challenges faced by Remote Stadium Architects in managing large-scale projects?

Remote Stadium Architects often face challenges in coordinating with on-site teams, managing time zone differences, and ensuring clear communication across various stakeholders. Utilizing advanced collaboration tools and frequent virtual meetings helps mitigate these issues, but architects must be proactive in addressing potential misunderstandings and ensuring design intent is preserved. Additionally, remote work requires strong self-management skills and adaptability to changes in project scope or local regulations, while still maintaining close collaboration with engineers, contractors, and local authorities.

What does a Remote Stadium Architect do?

A Remote Stadium Architect is a professional who designs and oversees the planning of stadiums and large sports venues while working from a remote location. They use advanced design software, collaborate with clients and engineering teams via digital platforms, and ensure that stadium projects meet safety, accessibility, and sustainability standards. Remote Stadium Architects also review building codes, manage project timelines, and may conduct virtual site inspections using digital tools. Their work enables organizations to benefit from top architectural talent regardless of geographical location.

Job description

About Ditto:
Ditto is redefining how data moves at the edge. Our mission is to make it seamless for developers to build resilient, real-time applications, regardless of network conditions. Whether you're in a stadium, airplane, or remote military base, Ditto's peer-to-peer sync engine ensures devices stay connected and data stays consistent, even without internet. With more than $145 million in funding and trusted by organizations like Chick-fil-A, Delta Airlines, and the U.S. military, Ditto powers mission-critical experiences across aviation, retail, travel, hospitality, defense, and more. As a globally distributed, fast-growing startup, we're committed to building a diverse and inclusive team that reflects the wide range of perspectives needed to solve the world's hardest connectivity problems.
About Ditto
Ditto builds the world's leading edge sync platform - enabling applications to share data peer-to-peer, with or without internet connectivity. Our technology powers mission-critical systems across industries where reliability and real-time sync aren't nice-to-haves, they're non-negotiable. We work with some of the most demanding organizations in the world, including defense agencies, first responders, and enterprise customers who operate at the edge.
The Role
We're looking for a Staff Platform Engineer (IC5) to lead the technical vision and architecture of our enterprise multi-cloud Kubernetes platform. This is the person who sets technical direction for the Platform team, defines durable engineering patterns that scale across cloud providers, and provides architectural leadership that multiplies the team's output.
This role sits on the critical path for our next two major product releases. The decisions you make don't stop at Platform Engineering - your patterns shape how the company's infrastructure works across all customer-facing engineering. You'll mentor P3/P4 engineers and leave a technical legacy that lasts well past any single project.
What You'll Do
  • Lead the architecture and implementation of managed Kubernetes infrastructure powering all enterprise customer deployments, ensuring consistent behavior and operational excellence across AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • Own the systems that provision, organize, and manage cloud accounts and subscriptions across providers, including resource governance, policy enforcement, and multi-tenant isolation
  • Architect and maintain the access management platform that provides secure, auditable cluster access for operations teams, including automated emergency access and compliance controls
  • Design and implement the networking layer that routes traffic into customer environments, replacing legacy components with cloud-native patterns integrated into each provider's ecosystem
  • Own the infrastructure lifecycle systems that provision, configure, and migrate Kubernetes environments, eliminating technical debt by transitioning legacy deployments to modern managed infrastructure
  • Define and document architectural patterns, technical decision-making frameworks, and engineering standards that govern how multi-cloud infrastructure is built at Ditto
  • Mentor P3/P4 engineers, helping them develop cross-cloud expertise and architectural instincts so they can operate with greater autonomy
  • Drive cross-functional alignment on major technical decisions across Platform and Software Engineering without relying on direct authority

What We're Looking For
  • 7+ years of engineering experience with significant depth in cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and distributed systems
  • Hands-on expertise across multiple major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) - production-grade deployment and operational experience across at least two
  • Demonstrated ability to make high-confidence, high-impact architectural decisions independently and own the outcomes
  • Experience designing multi-tenant, multi-cloud infrastructure with strong security and compliance posture
  • Proven track record of defining engineering standards and patterns that other engineers build on
  • Strong background in identity federation, access management, and secure cluster operations
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code, GitOps, and modern platform engineering practices
  • Ability to lead through influence - you can drive alignment across engineering teams without a direct reporting line
  • Track record of mentoring and leveling up mid-level engineers

Nice to Have
  • Experience with Teleport or similar zero-trust access infrastructure
  • Background in kubeadm or self-managed Kubernetes and migrating clusters to managed offerings
  • Familiarity with BYOC (Bring Your Own Cloud) deployment models and enterprise customer environments
  • Experience operating in compliance-sensitive or enterprise security review contexts
  • Prior work at Staff or Principal level with org-wide architectural impact

Why Ditto
  • True greenfield platform work - you're defining patterns that don't exist yet, not maintaining legacy systems
  • Genuine multi-cloud ownership across all three major cloud providers, solving the hard problems of cross-cloud cohesion
  • Direct revenue and customer impact - enterprise customers are waiting for this capability; you're unblocking real deals
  • Foundation-setting authority - your architectural decisions become the baseline every future cloud expansion is built on
  • Org-wide technical influence at a company size where Staff-level impact is actually visible
  • Competitive salary, equity, and benefits
  • Flexible remote-first culture with in-person gatherings
The Benefits of Building with Us
We offer competitive salaries and meaningful equity. We believe everyone on the team should have a stake in what we're building. Benefits vary by region to make sure you're covered in the ways that matter most. In the US, that includes health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, plus a 401(k) and flexible spending accounts.
Regardless of where you live, everyone at Ditto can utilize flexible time off. And while we work remotely, our Atlanta and San Francisco offices are open if you ever want a place to work or meet up with teammates.
Apply Anyway
At Ditto, we know game-changers don't always come wrapped in a "perfect" resume. Years of experience? Every single bullet point checked? Meh. That's not what drives us.
What does matter?
  • Grit.
  • Curiosity.
  • Adaptability.
  • And a genuine spark for what we're building.

So if you're fired up about our mission but not sure you tick every box - hit that apply button anyway. Use your application to show us how you'll make an impact here.
We're always on the lookout for exceptional humans who want to grow, stretch, and build something meaningful with us.
Equal Opportunity Employer
Ditto is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. We do not discriminate in hiring or any employment decision based on race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), marital status, ancestry, physical or mental disability, genetic information, veteran status, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, or other applicable legally protected characteristics.
