Job description

Position: SQL Server DBA / System Administrator

Duration: 6 month contract-to-hire

Pay: $60-70/HR

Work Location: Austin, TX

Remote: 2x per week, onsite 3x per week

This position is eligible to enroll in medical, dental, vision after 60 days. In addition, this position is eligible to enroll in a 401(k) after 90 days.

We're hiring a Database Administrator with strong Windows Server and systems administration experience. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across database administration, infrastructure support, application administration, and enterprise systems management.

This position will support critical business applications and infrastructure in a highly regulated, production-focused environment. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of SQL Server administration, Windows server management, and system troubleshooting expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and support Microsoft SQL Server environments
  • Monitor database performance, health, and availability
  • Perform database backups, patching, upgrades, and maintenance activities
  • Support Windows Server administration and system operations
  • Install, configure, and maintain server-based applications and software platforms
  • Develop and troubleshoot T-SQL scripts, queries, and stored procedures
  • Assist with system monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning
  • Support virtualized infrastructure and cloud-based environments
  • Collaborate with application teams, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders
  • Maintain documentation, operational procedures, and system configurations
  • Participate in production deployments and change management activities
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across databases, servers, and integrated systems

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environments
  • Strong experience with SQL Server technologies, including database performance tuning and monitoring
  • Experience with T-SQL scripting and SQL Server management tools
  • Experience administering Microsoft Windows Server environments
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware
  • Experience with PowerShell or other automation/scripting tools
  • Knowledge of Active Directory administration
  • Experience supporting enterprise production environments
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications
