The Opportunity

We're seeking an innovative and strategic Director of Digital Gaming & Sports Betting to lead one of CLC's fastest-growing and most exciting business areas.

Reporting directly to the President & CEO, this executive leadership role is responsible for leading our iLottery and Sports Betting businesses, driving digital growth, enhancing the player experience, strengthening strategic partnerships, and identifying new opportunities for innovation. This is an opportunity to influence enterprise strategy, shape the future of digital gaming at Connecticut Lottery, and make a meaningful impact on an organization that serves the people of Connecticut.

You'll provide leadership across our digital gaming platform, mobile application, and online and retail sportsbook operations while overseeing key vendor relationships and executing our digital strategy. Working closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams, you'll help position Connecticut Lottery for continued success in a dynamic and rapidly evolving industry.

This is a primarily onsite leadership role based at our headquarters in Wallingford, Connecticut. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Digital Revenue Performance

  • Oversee performance of iLottery and sports betting. Monitors revenue, player acquisition, retention, and engagement metrics.
  • Develops and executes strategies to maximize revenue and enhance player experience.
  • Collaborates with internal departments and external vendors to optimize platform performance, promotional strategies, and digital product offerings.
  • Develops revenue forecasts, KPIs and dashboards to guide strategic decision-making, and works with Finance to ensure accuracy, predictability, and transparency of digital revenue streams.

Digital Gaming Strategy

  • Leads the development and execution of digital gaming initiatives and growth strategies.
  • Identifies opportunities to expand digital revenue, enhance player engagement, and improve customer experience.
  • Drives innovation, including evaluations of emerging technologies and new products.
  • Advises leadership on industry trends, emerging technologies, and strategic opportunities.

iLottery Program Leadership

  • Oversee iLottery operations, including product performance, platform management, and player engagement initiatives across the Lottery’s digital platform and mobile application.
  • Leads UX/UI improvement cycles, product roadmap development, and A/B testing to support digital product optimization.

Sports Betting Operations

  • Provides executive oversight of online and retail sportsbook operation.
  • Ensures operational performance, vendor accountability and platform integrity. Oversees Connecticut Lottery-operated retail sportsbooks through supervision of the Sportsbook Manager.
  • Collaborates with internal departments to ensure alignment between sports betting operations, marketing initiatives, and player engagement strategies.
  • Leads continuous improvement initiatives to enhance market competitiveness, reduce friction, and optimize customer experience across retail and digital sportsbook channels.

Vendor & Platform Governance

  • Serves as the primary relationship lead for digital gaming and sportsbook vendors.
  • Monitors vendor performance against contractual obligations and service-level expectations.
  • Leads contract negotiations, renewals, and issue escalation.

Retail Sportsbook Partnerships

  • Manages relationships with retail sportsbook partners operating locations.
  • Works collaboratively with retail partners to ensure consistent operations, strong customer experience, and platform integrity across all partner locations.

Marketing & Player Engagement

  • Partners with Marketing to support promotions and player engagement strategies.
  • Develops targeted, data-driven player journeys across acquisition, retention and reactivation.

Identifies opportunities to increase digital adoption and cross-channel engagement.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Defines and owns the digital analytics strategy, reporting, and KPI frameworks.
  • Analyzes performance data to make informed product, marketing and operational decisions.
  • Provides regular updates and strategic insights to executive leadership and the Board.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 8–10 years of experience in digital gaming, iGaming, sports betting, digital product management, or e-commerce.
  • Experience managing technology platform vendors or complex vendor partnerships, preferably in regulated industries.
  • Experience with omnichannel digital ecosystems, including oversight of digital platforms, customer-facing mobile applications, or online gaming environments.
  • Strong understanding of digital platforms player engagement and revenue optimization
  • Proven leadership ability with experience managing cross-functional initiatives and external partnerships.
  • Familiarity with digital product development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
  • Experience in data analytics, A/B testing and customer lifecycle management.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a regulated or quasi-public environment.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred.
  • Equivalent experience in digital gaming or online platform management will be considered.
