Job description

Position Description

Origis Services, LLC is a rapidly expanding Operations and Maintenance provider in the United States.ย  Our solar asset portfolio continues to increase at a near exponential rate, with a mixture of Owner developed and constructed sites and third-party sites contracted, or already under management. Our goal is to provide a more inclusive service capability, driving out the large expenses that are normally passed through to the owner.ย

Origis is looking for a Traveling Solar PV & ESS O&M Technician, also known as the "Tiger Team Technician," which is a high-skill, field-deployable resource responsible for supporting operational solar and energy storage sites across the fleet. This role is designed for a seasoned technician who excels in inverter repairs, site commissioning, project execution, and mentoring field teams. Approximately 70% of time will be spent traveling to sites.

While on site, this technician will lead complex technical tasks and provide training to site teams. During home-based periods, they will contribute to procedural development, team training initiatives, technical documentation review, and remote support of active field operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • While On Site (Approximately 70% Travel):

    • Perform advanced troubleshooting and repairs on PV inverters, BESS, and related infrastructure across multiple OEM platforms
    • Lead and support project-based work including system upgrades, retrofits, and special initiatives
    • Provide on-site startup and commissioning support for new sites or equipment
    • Mentor and train on-site technicians on system operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and company best practices
    • Conduct workmanship audits, verify task execution, and ensure site teams are aligned with procedures and standards
  • While Working Remotely (~30%):

    • Draft, review, and revise technical procedures and work instructions
    • Submit and present post-trip reports with analysis and technical findings
    • Work closely with the training team to identify knowledge gaps, review field team readiness, and support curriculum development
    • Review completed work orders and CMMS entries for technical accuracy and completeness
    • Provide remote troubleshooting assistance to field technicians, escalating issues as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 70% of the time (typically 2 weeks travel, 1 week remote)
  • Minimum 4 years of direct experience in utility-scale solar O&M or equivalent electrical/industrial experience
  • Extensive experience with inverter maintenance and troubleshooting (multi-OEM preferred)
  • High proficiency with Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), work planning, and performing root cause analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex schematics, electrical prints, and technical manuals
  • Experience developing or reviewing standard operating procedures and technical training materials
  • Proficient in CMMS use, Microsoft Office, and remote collaboration tools (e.g., Teams, SharePoint)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-directed, highly organized, and comfortable working independently in both field and remote settings

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a field training, commissioning, or technical support role
  • Thermography certification
  • SCADA system familiarity and remote monitoring tools knowledge
  • OEM-specific certifications (e.g., SMA, Power Electronics, Sungrow, etc.)

Travel & Work Conditions:

  • Must be available for regular travel on a rotating schedule (approx. 2 weeks travel / 1 week remote)
  • Work may involve exposure to extreme weather, working at heights, and energized equipment
  • Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds and walk up to 2+ miles per day in field conditions

This role is ideal for a technician who enjoys variety, autonomy, and using their expertise to support and elevate teams across the organization.
