Position Overview

Halvik is seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer with 10+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and operating highly scalable, resilient, and secure enterprise applications across USPTO for Patent Products. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java and Python based microservices, Spring Boot, Spring AI, cloud-native architectures on AWS, and practical experience leveraging AI agents and prompt engineering to accelerate software development and intelligent application capabilities.

This role requires close collaboration with Product Owners, Architects, Technical Leads, DevOps teams, and business stakeholders in an Agile environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for building mission-critical services that operate with 24x7 availability, high performance, security, and fault tolerance.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade services and APIs using: Java, Spring Boot, Spring AI Framework, Python, XML-based integrations and configurations.
  • Design and develop distributed cloud-native microservices that are highly available, fault-tolerant, and resilient in AWS environment.
  • Design and implement AI-enabled application components leveraging: Large Language Models (LLMs), AI agents, Prompt engineering best practices, Agent orchestration frameworks.
  • Build reusable and scalable application components that integrate with enterprise systems and third-party services.
  • Develop AI-assisted automation solutions that improve developer productivity and business outcomes. Build intelligent workflows utilizing AI agents and LLM-based capabilities.
  • AWS Cloud Engineering - Design, deploy, and manage applications on AWS using: ECS Fargate, Aurora MySQL Serverless, SQS, SNS
  • Ensure compliance with USPTO's federal security standards.
  • Support production environments and resolve critical issues when necessary

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
  • Experience: 10+ years
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Java, Python, Spring Boot, Spring AI Framework in AWS environments
  • Compliance: Eligible to Obtain Public Trust clearance

Preferred Expertise

  • Backend knowledge of Java, Python, Spring Boot, Spring AI
  • Experience implementing highly available and mission-critical systems operating 24x7
  • Good to have knowledge in designing and implementing AI-powered enterprise applications.
  • Good to have prompt engineering experience for LLM-based solutions
  • Participating in Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives
