Job description

Purpose

This position is responsible for developing and supporting capabilities for Customer Order Management and Supply Chain management related applications. This position also includes understanding the needs of business stakeholders and translating those needs into enterprise level applications and solutions.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Computer Science (relevant experience can be substituted for the required education based on one calendar year of experience for one academic year of education)

  • 6-10 years of software development & implementation experience, or retail systems experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company

  • Proven experience with Agile development methodologies and tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket

  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, preferably using Jenkins

  • Advanced backend development experience using Java frameworks, preferably Spring Boot, with hands-on use of modern Java (17/21 LTS) capabilities such as virtual threads, records, sealed classes, and pattern matching to build scalable, high-throughput services

  • Advanced experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React (Server Components, Compiler-driven optimization) or Angular (Signals, zoneless change detection), with strong TypeScript proficiency

  • Hands-on experience with container orchestration technologies such as Docker Swarm or Kubernetes

  • Experience architecting and deploying applications to a Cloud framework, especially Azure or GCP

  • Experience with at least one DB platform: PostgreSQL (preferred), SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL

  • Ability to write SQL commands with a complete understanding of SQL principles (indexing, optimization, performance tuning, SQL plans, stored procedures)

  • Strong experience in Microservices architecture and distributed systems design

  • Ability to write shell scripts and execute Linux commands at an intermediate to advanced level

  • Strong unit testing practices and a complete understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle

  • Excellent communication, problem solving, documentation and data analysis skills

  • Ability to grasp and learn new tools and technologies as needed to complete job tasks, and to guide others in doing so

  • Ability to convey technical specifications in a business-friendly manner

  • Demonstrate proficiency across multiple technology environments and the ability to readily learn, apply, and evangelize new and emerging concepts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience integrating with vulnerability tools like Snyk is a plus

  • Experience integrating and championing automated software quality and security check frameworks such as SonarQube, HP Fortify, and Jenkins

  • Experience with monitoring/observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace, Terraform, or Splunk

  • Prior experience writing and deploying backend/frontend applications to Azure Kubernetes Service or Docker

  • Deep familiarity with newer React ecosystem capabilities (Server Components, React Compiler) or Angular's Signals-based, zoneless change detection model, with the ability to guide architectural decisions around them

  • Experience with Next.js (App Router) or similar meta-frameworks for server-side rendering and edge deployment

  • Experience in newer Java/JEE frameworks/technologies (Spring Boot, Hibernate, JMS, JPA) and Java application servers (JBoss/Jetty/Apache Tomcat)

  • Python or Perl scripting knowledge is a plus

  • ETL expertise (e.g., SSIS, Talend) is a plus

  • Experience with reporting tools like Cognos or PowerBI

  • Knowledge of any Manhattan Associates software products (particularly their Cloud products), or knowledge of similar supply chain software products from other vendors, is an added advantage

  • Integration development and knowledge of webMethods or similar integration technologies is a plus

  • Working knowledge of AI and Generative AI concepts, along with hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) and exploring GenAI use cases such as prompt engineering or LLM-based integrations to improve development efficiency and solution design, is a plus

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the full software development lifecycle for projects, enhancements and fixes, including design, development, unit testing and deployment

  • Manage user issues and the ticketing system related to application problems

  • Identify risks and issues and escalate as necessary; research and document recommendations or solutions for upgrades, improvements, and issue resolution to ensure a stable, available, and protected technical infrastructure

  • Should be a team player and display mentorship from time to time, guiding less experienced developers

  • Guide the team's practices within a Scrum or Kanban Agile framework

  • Help the team during deployments; product rollouts happen at night after store closure

  • Establish and reinforce programming guidelines in partnership with Lead Developers, Managers, and above

  • Integrate new products and solutions into the existing environment for continuous improvement

  • Champion the adoption of AI-assisted development tools and practices within the team to improve productivity, code quality, and delivery speed

  • Analyze data and solve new and existing business issues

  • High level of customer service

  • Work concurrently on multiple projects and tasks across different business units

Working Conditions (travel, hours, environment)

  • Occasional travel may be required including air and car travel

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderate.

Physical/Sensory Requirements

Sedentary Work - Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
