Field Service Electrical Engineer (Remote in Houston)

Partner with the best

The Electrical Engineer will carry out commissioning /installation/repair/maintenance and upgrading of large rotating electrical machines and their associated control equipment in the field at customer sites throughout the US and abroad.

As a Field Specialist-Electrical Commissioning, you will be responsible for:

  • Commissioning High Voltage Generators, Motors, Synchronous condensers, Power management systems (PMS), Electrical protection systems, Excitation Controllers (AVRs), and Synchronizing equipment.
  • Performing role while applying company health and safety procedures applicable to the job site. Typical examples are HV safety, lock out tag out, permit to work systems and risk and method statements.
  • Conducting upgrades to AVRS, PMS systems, Synchronizers, Protection relays and other control elements.
  • Carrying out electrical testing on high and low voltage equipment and machine windings in the field. Examples may include Polarization Index, Insulation resistance, and Ductor tests.
  • Practicing some degree of project management at site.
  • Delivering training on Brush products to clients and field service colleagues.
  • Interpreting technical drawings, specifications and technical requirements. Attend technical meetings on site and at customers' premises.

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or completed and/or arecognized craft apprenticeship in electrical engineering with demonstrated experience in the field.
  • High level knowledge of electrical power generation and distribution systems for industrial equipment. Ideally have knowledge of networking systems such as, Modbus, Ethernet, 61850, Fiber.
  • Be self reliant, resourceful and a problem solver with well developed commercial awareness
  • Experienced in representing the Company at customers' sites and operating remotely on own initiative whilst observing the requirements set down in the Company's Code of Conduct
  • Able to work with Company's rules and guidance notes on health and safety, including operation of safe systems of work in relation to high voltage and medium voltage electrical systems and work in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Able and willingness travel when called upon and on short notice on a regular basis both domestically and internationally 75% - 85% of the time or as business needs dictate.
