Java Developer
Certification Required: CompTIA Security+ CE (Required)

Required Skills & Experience
  • 3-5+ years of experience developing software using Java 8 or later
  • 3-5+ years of experience developing and maintaining JavaServer Pages (JSP)-based web applications
  • 3-5+ years of experience developing applications using JavaScript
  • Experience using jQuery to maintain and enhance existing web application functionality
  • 3+ years of experience using NetBeans IDE 8-11 or Eclipse
  • Experience maintaining and enhancing legacy Java EE web applications
  • Ability to analyze existing JSP pages and supporting Java code to identify application issues and implement requested enhancements
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across Java, JSP, JavaScript, jQuery, and SQL
  • Ability to write, read, and troubleshoot SQL queries
  • Experience using Git with Azure DevOps
  • Experience using Azure DevOps to create and manage Product Backlog Items (PBIs), Bugs, and Tasks
  • Ability to create and maintain Adobe PDF Templates
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work within an existing enterprise application

Responsibilities
  • Analyze user and business requirements and determine the necessary modifications within an existing Java/JSP application.
  • Analyze existing JavaServer Pages (JSP), Java classes, JavaScript, and SQL code to identify application issues and implement requested enhancements.
  • Troubleshoot legacy web application functionality to determine root causes of defects, performance issues, and functionality that inhibits requested changes.
  • Modify and maintain existing JSP, Java, JavaScript, and jQuery components to support new business requirements.
  • Review existing application logic and recommend code changes to improve functionality, maintainability, and performance.
  • Perform requirements analysis for new development requests and software change requests.
  • Develop, test, and document software enhancements in accordance with established development standards.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including requirements documentation, design notes, and unit test plans.
  • Define development estimates and timelines for assigned work.
  • Participate in Agile software development ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, developers, testers, and stakeholders to evaluate requested application changes and determine the most effective implementation approach.
  • Resolve technical issues and provide support throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Apply sound problem-solving techniques to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and recommend effective solutions.
  • Work effectively both independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, discretion, and customer service while supporting government stakeholders.
  • Protect proprietary, sensitive, and confidential information in accordance with program and security requirements.
  • Continuously learn new technologies and software tools as needed to support program objectives.
