About the Role
We are seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer to own quality assurance and release readiness for internal test content authoring applications. This role is ideal for a strong QA professional who can balance hands-on test automation with thoughtful manual testing, clear communication, and the ability to support multiple teams in a fast-paced engineering environment.
You will lead QA strategy, build and maintain scalable automated test suites, identify risk across complex workflows, and ensure releases meet agreed quality standards. You will work closely with engineering, product, design, and business stakeholders to improve reliability, reduce defects, and strengthen overall product quality.
Responsibilities
- Own application quality and release readiness across internal content authoring platforms
- Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, and automated test suites
- Build scalable automation frameworks for front-end applications, back-end services, and supporting infrastructure
- Write modular, maintainable, refactor-safe automated tests with the same rigor as application code
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and support ongoing test stability
- Conduct functional, regression, accessibility, and security testing
- Partner with platform and performance engineers on load and performance testing as needed
- Review requirements for testability and translate business needs into comprehensive test scenarios
- Lead defect analysis, identify root causes, and recommend systemic quality improvements
- Define quality metrics and contribute to observability practices
- Mentor engineers on left-shift testing and shared ownership of product quality
- Participate in code reviews and provide feedback on both application and test pull requests
- Read application source code to design targeted tests beyond UI and black-box coverage
- Support production issue resolution by troubleshooting defects and partnering with engineering teams on fixes
- Evaluate and implement tools and practices that improve testing efficiency
- Use AI coding tools to improve, scale, and validate automated tests and supporting code
Qualifications
- 7+ years of professional experience in software quality assurance, test automation, or quality engineering
- Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining automated test suites
- Proficiency with TypeScript, Node.js, and Playwright
- Experience testing applications and services built on AWS
- Familiarity with AWS services such as Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, and CloudWatch
- Exposure to event-driven services such as Step Functions, SNS, or SQS is a plus
- Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
- Strong ability to create QA strategy and identify test scenarios from business requirements
- Experience building complex test data sets, including edge cases
- Experience owning quality across the full software development lifecycle
- Ability to influence system design and technical decisions across teams
- Strong understanding of Agile methodology and DevOps practices
- Experience participating in code reviews for application and test code
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams
- Ability to prioritize quality issues based on downstream impact, scale, and risk
- Proactive ownership mindset with the ability to manage vaguely defined problems with limited supervision
Nice to Have
- Experience with AI-driven test automation
- Experience using Claude Code or similar AI coding tools in an engineering workflow
- Performance testing experience
- Experience with predictive analytics for defect detection
