• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments tailored to the unique needs of elderly residents, focusing on addiction issues and other emotional challenges.
• Provide individual and group therapy sessions to address emotional and psychological difficulties related to aging and significant life changes.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to create personalized care plans that align with each client’s mental health and wellness goals.
• Educate caregivers and family members on effective strategies and interventions to support the emotional well-being of elderly individuals.
• Facilitate grief support sessions for clients and their families navigating end-of-life issues and loss.
• Implement specialized cognitive stimulation programs and interventions to promote mental acuity among seniors.

This position focuses primarily on geriatric clients, many of whom are grappling with mental health challenges exacerbated by aging, such as depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. The LMHC will provide not only therapeutic support but also essential resources that empower older adults and foster their ability to cope with change.

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential in New York State.
• A minimum of 3 years of recent, relevant experience in a geriatric counseling context, addressing mental health issues.
• Demonstrated expertise in evidence-based practices particularly suited to the elderly population.
• Excellence in communication and interpersonal skills to adequately connect with senior clients and their families.
• Cultural competency and a strong sense of empathy to provide equitable support to diverse populations.

• Specific training or certification in geriatric mental health and substance use interventions.

• Experience in conducting mental health workshops or educational sessions for staff and caregivers.

The compensation package for this position includes a competitive annual salary ranging from USD 80,000 to 105,000, commensurate with experience. Additionally, eligible candidates may receive a sign-on bonus, enhancing the overall financial incentives for joining our team.
