What is a remote senior designer?

A Remote Senior Designer is an experienced design professional who works remotely to create visual concepts, digital assets, or product designs for a company or client. They typically lead design projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure high-quality design output. Their responsibilities may include user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design, branding, graphic design, or product design, depending on the company. Strong communication and time management skills are essential for remote work.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote senior designer?

To thrive as a Remote Senior Designer, you need advanced design skills, a strong portfolio, proficiency in UX/UI principles, and often a relevant degree in design or a related field. Expertise in industry-standard design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, or Sketch, and familiarity with design systems or collaborative platforms (like InVision or Miro) are typically required. Excellent communication, time management, and collaboration skills set standout candidates apart, as does the ability to work independently and provide constructive feedback. These skills are crucial for producing high-quality work, meeting project deadlines, and contributing effectively to cross-functional remote teams.

What are some common challenges faced by remote senior designers and how can they be addressed?

Remote Senior Designers often face challenges such as collaborating effectively with distributed teams, maintaining clear communication across time zones, and staying motivated without direct in-person interaction. To overcome these obstacles, it's important to establish regular check-ins, use robust project management and communication tools, and proactively share project updates and feedback. Building strong relationships with colleagues through virtual meetings and participating in team design reviews can also help remote designers stay connected and aligned. Keeping organized and managing your workflow effectively ensures projects move forward smoothly even when working from different locations.

Can remote senior designers work from home?

Remote senior designers can typically work from home, as the role often involves digital tools like design software and communication platforms that facilitate remote collaboration. Many companies offer flexible or fully remote arrangements for senior design positions, provided the candidate has the necessary skills and a suitable home workspace.

How much does a remote senior designer get paid?

A remote senior designer typically earns between $80,000 and $130,000 annually, depending on experience, industry, and location. Compensation may also include benefits such as flexible schedules, professional development opportunities, and access to design tools like Adobe Creative Suite or Figma.

Job description

At PrizePicks, we are the fastest-growing sports company in North America, as recognized by Inc. 5000. As the leading platform for Daily Fantasy Sports, we cover a diverse range of sports leagues, including the NFL, NBA, and Esports titles like League of Legends and Counter-Strike. Our team of over 550 employees thrives in an inclusive culture that values individuals from diverse backgrounds, regardless of their level of sports fandom. Ready to reimagine the DFS industry together?
About the Role
The PrizePicks Creative Collective is looking for someone who's fast enough, precise enough, and versatile enough to touch nearly everything the brand puts out. The Creative Collective is a small, high-conviction team built around one standard: commit fully or not at all. We move fast, debate hard, and once a call is made, we stand behind it together.
This role will assist with brand campaigns, Paid UA, social content, product marketing, CRM, partner and event collateral, whatever the business needs next. You are an absolute monster on the keys. You design, you animate, and you execute at a speed and precision most people can't match, and you do it without sacrificing craft.
If you've spent your career being the fastest, sharpest hands in every room you've been in and you're ready to prove it across an entire brand, not just one channel, this is it.
How We Work
Lead with conviction - Be Iverson
Bring work you believe in and have a strong POV. Authenticity matters more than the idea itself. If the idea could live with another brand's logo on it, it doesn't belong here. We'd rather refine a bold idea than try to save a safe one.
โ†ณ Not: "This is just an option" or over-explaining to compensate for weak belief
Sharpen each other - Be Pharrell
Value direct feedback and be comfortable in conflict. Debate makes the work better. Once a call is made, we move together. Mediocre work is a collective failure, not an individual one.
โ†ณ Not: Silent agreement followed by side conversations or ego-driven critique
Execute under pressure - Be Jordan
The standard does not change when the moment does. We move with precision and continually refine our judgment. Practice or clutch time, you show up with the same intensity.
โ†ณ Not: "We didn't have time" or overcomplicating simple calls
Show up fully - Be Virgil
Show up wherever you are needed, whenever you are needed, without hesitation. Not for credit - for the outcome. It's not about doing everything. It's about doing what's required to make it right.
โ†ณ Not: "That's not my job" or trying to protect your role over protecting the work
What You'll Do
Execute at a speed most people can't match
  • Design and animate a wide range of assets - campaign visuals, social content, product marketing, CRM, partner and event collateral - often in the same week
  • Move from brief to finished, on-brand asset fast, without needing every decision spelled out
  • Own motion as a core skill - You're just as quick in figma as you are in after effects.

Touch nearly everything the brand puts out
  • Partner with whichever team or stakeholder needs design support that week - Brand, Social, Product Marketing, Events, and beyond
  • Translate business and marketing objectives into designs that are clear, compelling, and immediately understandable
  • Set the standard for design quality across the assets you touch, not just your own work

Build and protect the system
  • Work inside the PrizePicks design system, and work with the Art Director, Brand to help evolve it as the brand grows
  • Keep brand guidelines consistent across every touchpoint you touch, no matter how fast the timeline
  • Build reusable templates and components so the team can move faster without starting from scratch every time

Stay sharp and stay current
  • Research and bring in the latest design, motion, and social trends before they go stale
  • Bring a real point of view on sports and culture - this is a sports-first and culture inspired brand and it should show in the work
  • Push for better craft even when nobody's asking for it

Who You Are
  • An absolute monster on the keys - you design, you animate, and you execute fast, and your speed never comes at the cost of precision
  • A self-starter - you don't need a perfect brief to start moving
  • Versatile by nature - one day it's a campaign key visual, the next it's a motion piece, and you're equally dangerous at both
  • Detail-oriented under pressure - fast-paced, deadline-driven environments bring out your best work, not your worst
  • Collaborative - you work well with other designers, copywriters, and creative directors without needing to own every decision
  • Genuinely into sports and culture - it's not research, it's just what you're into

Qualifications:
  • 4-6+ years of design experience, with a portfolio that shows range across brand, social, and campaign work
  • Motion design experience is MANDATORY
  • Highly proficient in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Excellent sense of composition, layout, typography, and color
  • Experience working within or helping develop design systems
  • Proven track record in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Bonus Points
  • Strong interest in sports design or esports specifically
  • Experience across Digital, Social, Product Marketing, and CRM design
  • Comfort presenting or defending creative decisions directly to stakeholders

What Success Looks Like
  • In 90 days, every team that's worked with you has a go-to designer they trust with fast turnarounds and sharp craft.
  • In six months, the Creative Collective is producing work faster than we ever have and at a higher bar.
  • In a year, your fingerprints are on work across nearly every part of the business, and the team's overall design speed and quality have both gone up because of it.

Where you'll live:
  • While we prefer candidates based in Atlanta, we are open to qualified applicants from anywhere in the U.S. and are willing to consider remote candidates. #LI-Remote
