SCS Engineers is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer or Project Manager to support and help lead its growing solid waste engineering practice in South Florida.

Primary Responsibilities

Solid Waste Engineering and Design

  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, design drawings, technical specifications, reports, construction documents, and permit applications.

  • Support or lead projects involving:

    • Landfill gas collection and control systems

Project and Client Management

Construction and Field Support

  • Provide construction-phase engineering and operational support.

  • Perform field inspections, data collection, site assessments, surveys, and construction observations.

  • Support construction quality assurance activities, including landfill liner and cover system installation.

  • Review contractor submittals, requests for information, change orders, and construction documentation.

  • Conduct fieldwork in varied terrain and South Florida weather conditions.

  • Travel to project sites as required.

Team Leadership and Business Development

  • Coordinate the work of engineers, designers, technicians, scientists, and field personnel.

  • Mentor and support the professional development of junior staff.

  • Assist with workload planning, project staffing, technical reviews, and quality-control processes.

  • Prepare proposals, scopes of work, fee estimates, and client presentations.

  • Identify new project opportunities within existing and prospective client relationships.

  • Attend professional conferences, association meetings, trade shows, and client-development events.

  • Help expand SCS Engineers' solid waste presence throughout the South Florida market.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

  • At least eight years of relevant engineering or environmental consulting experience.

  • Demonstrated experience within the solid waste industry.

  • Experience with one or more of the following:

    • Landfill design and permitting

    • Landfill gas collection and control systems

    • Landfill infrastructure

    • Air-quality or emissions compliance

    • Leachate-management systems

    • Landfill closure or post-closure care

    • Construction quality assurance

    • Solid waste facility operations

  • Active Florida Professional Engineer license, preferably in Civil Engineering, or the ability to obtain Florida reciprocity within six months.

  • Ability to prepare and review technical calculations, drawings, reports, specifications, and permit applications.

  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, and client-communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
