Job description

  1. The Senior Project Manager - Application & Infrastructure Delivery (Disaster Recovery) will effectively manage a delivery of projects supporting solutions of the Marriott's Disaster Recovery Program. The Senior Project Manager will plan, direct and coordinate activities pertaining to infrastructure technology and business programs at an enterprise level. (S)he will verify that project goals are accomplished and in line with business objectives. (S)he will communicate at both the technical level and business level with subject matter experts, ensuring that stakeholders from different aspects have a clear and concise understanding of portfolio/project objectives, statuses, risks and costs. The Senior Project Manager will report to the Director, Disaster Recovery.
    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    Primary work location will be remote to our HQ offices in Bethesda, MD.
    CERTIFICATIONS:
    • PMP certification - preferred
    • SAFe certification - preferred
    • Agile certification - preferred
    • ITIL Foundations - preferred
    CORE WORK ACTIVITIES:
    Project Leadership
    • Directs the work of project team, including oversight/coordination with other project managers
    • Functions as escalation to project teams to resolve issues
    • Reports project status to Senior Leadership in weekly meetings
    • Develops cost plans and project estimates for Demands in pipeline
    • May facilitate assignment of projects to project managers across Marriott
    Managing Projects
    • Plans projects, including requirements, cost, schedule, and deliverables to meet business need.
    • Identifies project milestones and required tasks.
    • Manages project risk, issues, and budget.
    • Tracks project performance.
    • Informs the appropriate stakeholders of project status and issues
    • Interfaces with vendor(s) for programs under direct control
    • Follow-up on any open GIS related issues.
    • Identify and track GIS issues coming due in next 4-6 weeks.
    • Remove any blockers for the teams working these issues. Ensure that these issues are remediated before due dates.
    • File extensions as and when exceptionally needed.

    Education and Experience:
    Required:
    • Bachelor's Degree, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
    • 7 - 10 years of experience managing enterprise level infrastructure projects ($250K+).
    • Experience leading End User Technology and Security projects for a Fortune-500 company.
    • Experience leading heavily matrixed teams at a global level to include offshore teams and resources.
    • Excellent communications skills to effectively information share with project team members and senior managers.
    • Be available to work outside of the traditional hours and days to facilitate project events when required.
    • Can effectively work with diverse project team members and be able to instill a unified drive to achieve project objectives and milestones.
    • Skilled in conceptualizing creative solutions, documenting them, and presenting/selling them to senior management
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 suite and applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Skype, Visio, Teams)
