Job description

Job Title: IT - Database Engineer IV Location: Remote Security Clearance: Top Secret (Required) Duration: 6 - 12 Months and Possible Extension. Pay Range : $45 - $55/hr on W2 without benefits Description: This Database Engineer role focuses on designing, developing, and optimizing database solutions, ETL pipelines, and reporting frameworks to support mission-critical applications. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and a strong background in data integration, performance tuning, and governance.

Responsibilities: • Design and implement relational database schemas and data models for OLTP and reporting systems. • Develop advanced T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, and triggers. • Build and maintain ETL pipelines using SSIS, ensuring robust error handling and performance optimization.

• Support reporting and analytics through SSRS development and dataset design. • Enforce data integrity, validation, and governance standards across systems. • Conduct proactive performance tuning and database performance analysis using tools like SolarWinds DPA.

• Collaborate with developers, analysts, and operations teams to translate business requirements into scalable database solutions. • Document processes, data lineage, and technical specifications for transparency and compliance. Required Qualifications: • U.S.

Citizenship required. • Must possess and maintain a T5/SSBI federally adjudicated clearance • Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD • Microsoft SQL Server expertise (on-prem and/or AWS, Azure). • Advanced T-SQL development and complex query design (CTEs, window functions, temp tables).

• Experience with Visual Studio / SSDT and source control-driven database development. • Strong background in ETL design and maintenance using SSIS, including incremental loads and CDC patterns. • Proficiency in SSRS report development, parameterized reports, and performance troubleshooting.

• Knowledge of data integrity enforcement, transaction management, and metadata documentation. • Hands-on experience with performance tuning, execution plan analysis, index optimization, and resource contention resolution. • Familiarity with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and release/deployment workflows.

• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
