Job description

Job Summary/Company: Sparks Group is seeking a data-driven and strategically minded Compensation Consultant to design, optimize, and manage our clients total rewards programs. In this role, you will be the architect of the compensation philosophy, ensuring structures are competitive, equitable, and aligned with our growth. A critical focus of this role will be overseeing equity programs. Direct, hands-on experience with Carta and a deep understanding of end-to-end equity management are absolute requirements for this position. You will bridge the gap between finance, HR, and legal to ensure our equity tech stack is flawless, and our employees fully understand the value of their ownership.
Responsibilities:
  • Equity Administration & Strategy: Serve as the primary administrator for our Carta platform. Manage the cap table, process new equity grants, cancellations, exercises, and vestings with meticulous accuracy.

  • Compensation Architecture: Design, implement, and refine competitive salary structures, job families, and variable incentive plans based on market data and business goals.

  • Market Benchmarking: Conduct regular market analysis and participation in compensation surveys to ensure our total rewards package remains highly competitive.

  • Equity Education: Act as the internal subject matter expert, creating educational materials and conducting sessions to help employees understand stock options, RSUs, and overall equity value.

  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure all compensation and equity programs comply with local, state, and federal regulations (including Section 409A, SEC filings, and tax reporting compliance).

  • Executive & Board Reporting: Partner with leadership to prepare data and models for compensation committee meetings, tracking equity burn rates, dilution, and pool availability.

  • Additional tasks and duties as assigned.


Qualifications/Background Profile:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

  • Experience: 4+ years of dedicated experience in corporate compensation consulting or in-house compensation management.

  • Platform Expertise: Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience managing equity plans specifically within Carta. (Carta Certification is a major plus).

  • Equity Knowledge: Deep understanding of various equity vehicles (NSOs, ISOs, RSUs) and the life cycle of private/public equity management.

  • Analytical Rigor: Advanced Proficiency in MS Excel and Google Sheets (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, index/match, and complex data modeling).

  • Communication: Exceptional ability to translate complex financial and legal compensation structures into clear, accessible concepts for employees and executives alike.
