What is a remote SDR?

Remote SDRs (Sales Development Representatives) are sales professionals who work from a remote location, rather than an office, to identify and qualify potential sales leads for their company. They typically use phone calls, emails, and online messaging to reach out to prospects, set appointments, and nurture relationships. Remote SDRs play a crucial role in the early stages of the sales process by generating interest and passing qualified leads to the sales team. Their responsibilities often require strong communication skills, self-motivation, and the ability to use digital sales tools effectively.

What are remote jobs for an SDR?

As a remote SDR, you support a sales department by calling customers and determining whether or not they qualify as a prospective lead. In effect, remote sales development representatives help filter out bad leads so other sales personnel can focus on closing deals with the best customers. Unlike many sales-related roles, this job does not emphasize closing deals—instead, it focuses on moving qualified leads through the sales pipeline. In this role, you may cold call or email potential leads, answer common questions, and coordinate efforts with salespeople and marketers to maximize the efficiency of the filtering process.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote SDR, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote SDR (Sales Development Representative), you need strong communication skills, a foundational understanding of sales processes, and often a bachelor's degree or relevant sales experience. Familiarity with CRM software like Salesforce, sales engagement tools, and email automation platforms is typically required. Outstanding self-motivation, resilience, and the ability to work independently make someone stand out in this remote position. These skills ensure effective prospecting, relationship-building, and consistent achievement of sales targets in a virtual environment.

How does a remote SDR typically collaborate with sales and marketing teams to achieve targets?

As a Remote Sales Development Representative (SDR), you’ll regularly coordinate with both sales and marketing teams through virtual meetings, shared CRM tools, and communication platforms like Slack or Teams. Collaboration involves nurturing leads generated by marketing, qualifying them through personalized outreach, and passing high-potential prospects to account executives. Successful SDRs proactively share feedback on lead quality and campaign effectiveness, helping to align team strategies and improve conversion rates. Building strong remote relationships and maintaining clear communication are essential for hitting sales targets and fostering team success.

About TalentPop

TalentPop is a fast-scaling, multi-8-figure, global E-Commerce enablement company supporting hundreds of high-growth brands with world-class talent and operational infrastructure. With a team of 2,500+ globally, we are building the future of work in the E-Commerce ecosystem.

We move fast. We think long-term. We operate at a high standard.

About the Role

TalentPop is looking for a Sales Development Representative (SDR) to serve as the first point of contact for prospective customers and help convert interest into qualified sales opportunities.

This role will manage a steady stream of inbound leads while also conducting targeted outbound prospecting against a curated list of high-fit accounts. This is not a high-volume, "spray and pray" SDR role. The focus is on identifying genuine intent, understanding the prospect's needs, and converting qualified opportunities into demos for our Account Executives.

The ideal candidate is responsive, organized, commercially minded, and comfortable balancing speed with thoughtful, personalized outreach. For a high-performing SDR, this role is designed to provide a pathway toward promotion into an Account Executive position, with a target progression timeline of approximately 12 months based on performance and business needs.

Essential Functions
  • Own the initial qualification and engagement of inbound and outbound prospects, converting qualified opportunities into scheduled demos for Account Executives.

  • Maintain timely and consistent prospect follow-up across email, phone, LinkedIn, and other approved outreach channels.

  • Research and qualify target accounts to determine fit, identify relevant business needs, and personalize outreach accordingly.

  • Maintain accurate and complete CRM records, including prospect activity, qualification status, stage progression, and disposition.

  • Meet established activity, response-time, pipeline generation, and demo-booking expectations.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Respond to inbound leads quickly, with a target speed-to-lead of under five minutes during business hours, and manage follow-up until a meeting is booked or the lead is clearly disqualified.

  • Execute multi-touch outbound sequences across email, phone, and LinkedIn against a defined list of target accounts that align with TalentPop's ideal customer profile.

  • Research prospective accounts before outreach, including their business model, customer support environment, helpdesk or technology stack, team structure, and potential needs.

  • Maintain strong HubSpot hygiene by logging activity, updating stages, maintaining accurate prospect records, and supporting weekly pipeline reporting.

  • Share insights with the broader sales team regarding messaging effectiveness, prospect objections, high-converting segments, common needs, and points of funnel drop-off.

Required Experience & Skills
  • 1+ years of experience as an SDR, BDR, or in a comparable sales development, business development, or prospecting-focused role.

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct multi-channel prospecting and follow-up across email, phone, LinkedIn, and related sales channels.

  • Experience with account-based outbound prospecting, including prioritizing target accounts, researching prospects, personalizing outreach, and executing multi-touch sequences.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create personalized prospect messaging rather than relying solely on templated outreach.

  • Experience using HubSpot or a comparable CRM, with a track record of maintaining accurate pipeline data and meeting established activity and conversion targets.

Preferred Experience & Skills
  • Previous experience within E-Commerce, SaaS, agency, or technology-enabled services environments.

  • Experience selling products or services to DTC or E-Commerce brands.

  • Familiarity with the Shopify ecosystem, including common apps, platforms, and technology used by E-Commerce brands.

  • Experience working with sales engagement, prospecting, enrichment, or sequencing tools.

  • Demonstrated interest in progressing into a closing sales role, such as Account Executive.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role will be measured by the SDR's ability to:

  • Consistently convert qualified inbound interest into booked demos.

  • Maintain an inbound speed-to-lead of under five minutes during business hours.

  • Generate qualified opportunities through targeted, personalized outbound prospecting.

  • Maintain clean and accurate HubSpot records, with every meaningful touch logged and pipeline stages kept current.

  • Identify and communicate trends around messaging, prospect objections, segment performance, and conversion.

  • Demonstrate the performance, sales skills, and commercial judgment required to progress toward an Account Executive opportunity.

Current Tech Stack:

Google Suite, HubSpot, Canva, Notion, Clay Table, Claude.AI, ChatGPT, Gusto, TypeForm, Ashby, Fathom, Webflow, Miro, 1Password, etc.

Benefits
  • ️ Unlimited PTO after 90 days of employment.

  • Company MacBook and $300 home office stipend.

  • Comprehensive Anthem BCBS health insurance, plus 100% company-covered dental and vision insurance through Humana.

  • 401(k) match: TalentPop will match 100% of the first 3% of your contribution, plus 50% of the next 2%. Employer matching contributions will not exceed 4% of your compensation. Employees are eligible after 90 days of employment.

  • Team events and international offsites.

  • Summer Fridays with shortened five-hour workdays on designated Fridays during the summer months to support work-life balance and flexibility.

  • Corporate Wellness Program with a choice between 24 Hour Fitness or ClassPass monthly credits, plus wellness workshops and mental health resources.

  • 14 paid holidays in 2026: 11 regular holidays, one modified work-from-home day on Black Friday, and two half days on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, since both fall during the workweek. Eligibility for paid holidays begins on your start date.
