What is a remote scribe?

A Remote Scribe is a professional who assists healthcare providers by documenting patient encounters in real-time from a remote location. They listen to medical consultations via a secure connection and update electronic health records (EHRs) with notes, diagnoses, and treatment plans. This role helps physicians focus more on patient care by reducing their administrative workload. Remote Scribes must have strong listening skills, medical terminology knowledge, and attention to detail.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a remote scribe?

To thrive as a Remote Scribe, you need excellent listening skills, fast and accurate typing abilities, and a solid understanding of medical terminology, typically supported by a background in healthcare or life sciences. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and secure communication platforms is often required, and some employers prefer candidates with certifications like Certified Medical Scribe Specialist (CMSS). Attention to detail, adaptability, and strong written communication set standout candidates apart in a remote work environment. These skills are vital for ensuring precise medical documentation, efficient workflow, and effective collaboration with healthcare providers.

What are common challenges faced by remote scribes and how can they be overcome?

Remote Scribes often face challenges like maintaining focus during long periods of transcription and accurately capturing complex medical information while working independently. It is important to create a distraction-free workspace and use reliable technology, such as noise-cancelling headphones and up-to-date computers, to minimize errors. Additionally, proactively communicating with physicians or supervisors can clarify any ambiguities and ensure that patient records are complete and accurate. Regularly reviewing medical terminology and staying current with updates in EHR systems can also help Scribes remain proficient and effective in their roles.

Job description

Nurse Practitioner

Integrated Women's Care (IWC)
Employment Type: Full-Time
FLSA Status: Exempt
Compensation: $55 - $70 / hour, based on geographic location
Reports To: Nurse Practitioner Manager
Work Location: Remote - work must be completed within the United States
Schedule: Between 7:00am - 7:00pm, patient local timezone

You built your career caring for women at a time when the healthcare system largely ignored them. You know HRT, you understand the complexity of perimenopause, and you've spent years earning the clinical instincts it takes to actually get this right. Now you want to do it at scale - for more patients, with fewer barriers, and in a practice model that matches how you already think and work.

That's what Midi is. A fully virtual, fast-paced clinical environment built specifically around women's midlife health - and designed for NPs who are ready to practice at their best.

THE ROLE

You'll carry a full patient panel, managing perimenopause, menopause, weight, sexual health, mood, and sleep - all virtually. This is ongoing, relationship-based care, which means your patients come back to you - visit after visit, over months and years. You'll prescribe and independently manage HRT (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone), evaluate patients for pharmacologic weight management including GLP-1 therapies, and make autonomous clinical decisions every day.

It's a high-volume environment. Documentation, follow-through, and productivity benchmarks are part of the job - and the NPs who thrive here don't fight that reality, they're built for it. If you're the kind of clinician who runs efficient visits without sacrificing warmth, closes every loop without being reminded, and moves comfortably between patients and platforms, you'll feel at home here.

WHO THRIVES HERE

Our most successful NPs tend to share a few things in common:

  • They are genuinely passionate about women's midlife health - this isn't a stopover, it's their calling
  • They are fluent with technology - EHR, video, AI scribe tools, Slack, clinical decision support - and they adapt quickly when tools change
  • They hold themselves to a high standard without needing to be managed toward it
  • They can carry a full panel, hit productivity targets, and still make every patient feel like the only one
  • They've practiced independently long enough to trust their own clinical judgment
  • They believe that listening deeply and documenting accurately are both forms of excellent care

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active board certification: FNP-C / FNP-BC or WHNP-BC
  • 3+ years independently managing perimenopause and menopause patients
  • 3+ years independently prescribing and titrating HRT
  • 3+ years managing a continuous NP patient panel - building ongoing relationships and making autonomous clinical decisions over time
  • 3+ years of synchronous telemedicine experience
  • 1+ year evaluating and prescribing pharmacologic weight management therapies, including GLP-1 agonists
  • Multiple active state licenses (DEA preferred)
  • Preferred: certification in Menopause (MSCP) and/or Obesity Medicine

WHY MIDI

  • A patient population that is engaged, informed, and deeply grateful for real care
  • Full clinical autonomy within a supportive, protocol-driven framework
  • Fully remote with scheduling between 7am-7pm patient local time
  • Desirable benefits package
  • Accredited training eligible for Continuing Education (CE)
  • Clinician Professional Development Allowance
  • Paid time off
  • A team that takes women's health as seriously as you do

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

This is a fully remote position requiring reliable high-speed internet access and the ability to work effectively in a virtual environment. The role involves prolonged computer use, including extended periods of sitting, video conferencing, and electronic documentation. To support patient access and business needs, occasional evening, weekend, or multi-time-zone coverage may be required.
