Job description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a CANES Technical Writer to support a high-visibility U.S. Navy prototype initiative. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business supporting mission-critical federal programs in a fully remote role. The CANES Technical Writer will play a key role in ensuring all project documentation is clear, accurate, and aligned with Navy standards, supporting both technical and non-technical stakeholders throughout the prototype lifecycle. This position requires an Active Secret Clearance to be considered. Responsibilities of the CANES Technical Writer include: * Develop, organize, and maintain all technical documentation throughout the prototype lifecycle * Document system architecture, design decisions, deployment procedures, and testing results * Ensure all written materials align with Navy and CANES documentation standards and formatting requirements * Translate complex technical inputs into concise, actionable documentation for diverse audiences * Contribute to configuration guides, design overviews, risk assessments, and transition deliverables * Support the creation and delivery of design artifacts, system overviews, and related project materials Qualifications for the CANES Technical Writer include: * Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience * 5-8 years of experience in technical writing within a technical, engineering, Navy, or federal environment * Navy or CANES program experience strongly preferred * Proven experience developing and editing user manuals, SOPs, system documentation, proposals/RFP responses, and knowledge-base articles * Strong ability to translate technical concepts into clear, structured, and accessible documentation * Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail * Active Secret Clearance Compensation for the CANES Technical Writer includes: * Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000
