We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Sr. Product Owner to lead the development and enhancement of our data science products and platforms. This role will bridge the gap between business needs and technical execution, ensuring our data science initiatives deliver maximum value to The Hartford.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Define and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for data science initiatives, aligning with company-wide goals and stakeholder requirements.
  • Translate complex business problems and user needs into clear, concise, and actionable product requirements and user stories for data scientists and engineers.
  • Prioritize the product backlog based on business value, technical feasibility, and strategic impact, ensuring a continuous delivery of high-value features.
  • Collaborate closely with data scientists, machine learning engineers, and other technical teams throughout the product lifecycle, from ideation to deployment and post-launch analysis.
  • Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and customer feedback analysis to identify opportunities for new data products and enhancements to existing ones.
  • Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, data science teams, and other relevant departments, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for data science products, analyzing performance and iterating based on results.
  • Champion agile methodologies and best practices within the data science product development process.
  • Mentor and guide junior product owners or business analysts on data science projects.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data science and product management.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Business, or a related quantitative field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in product management, with at least 3 years specifically focused on data science, machine learning, or AI products.
  • Proven track record of successfully launching and managing data-driven products from conception to end-of-life.
  • Strong understanding of data science methodologies, machine learning algorithms, and big data technologies.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and associated tools (Rally).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Experience in the insurance or financial services industry is a significant plus.

This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office should maintain their current work arrangement with the expectation of coming into the office as business needs arise

Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$111,200 - $166,800
