Description of Work
The Journals Systems & Fulfillment Associate is housed in the Digital Assets & IT department and reports to the Manager of Digital Assets & IT. The position serves as a cross-functional operational resource for the Press with primary responsibility for journals systems management, fulfillment coordination, and external partner alignment.
This role works at the intersection of journals support, platform-based workflow administration, and digital operations. The position coordinates journals systems and fulfillment workflows in THINK and related platforms; maintains accurate records; supports troubleshooting and exception handling; documents procedures; and works with internal staff and external partners to support smooth journals operations. The role collaborates closely with MPS/HighWire, journals project editors, the marketing team, business operations, and other Press staff to help ensure accurate, timely, and responsive service for subscribers, editors, sponsoring organizations, and internal stakeholders.
In addition to its journals responsibilities, the position provides secondary support for other cross-functional DAMIT operational needs as assigned. This may include ebook remediation, metadata or file cleanup, reporting support, workflow documentation, testing support, and related project work that helps align journals operations with the Press's digital systems environment.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, communications, publishing, information management, or related field; Additional years of relevant experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience in customer service or operational support involving order processing, subscription administration, fulfillment coordination, or closely related workflow-based administrative support. Experience may come from one or a combination of these areas.
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage recurring deadline-driven workflows
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and standard office software
  • Ability to learn platform-based systems quickly
  • Ability to coordinate tactfully with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to resolve routine workflow exceptions using established procedures and sound judgment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, communications, publishing, information management, or related field.
  • Direct experience with journals, magazines, serials, or membership/subscription fulfillment in an academic, scholarly, association, or nonprofit publishing environment preferred.
  • Experience with THINK or comparable platform-based workflows, outsourced fulfillment/customer-service vendors, HighWire/MPS, order-support workflows, or digital asset/data-cleanup work preferred.
