Essential Job Duties

The Senior PR Manager (External Communications) is responsible for leading BambooHR's always-on external communications engine, driving sustained media visibility, and strengthening the company's authority in the HR and workplace space.

This senior individual contributor will own and evolve BambooHR's data-driven storytelling strategy, including leadership of Data at Work, the company's proprietary research and insights program. The role partners closely with Corporate Communications, Product Marketing, Analyst Relations, and external agencies to translate company data, expertise, and innovation into compelling narratives that build credibility and market relevance.

You will:

  • Develop and execute BambooHR's always-on external PR and thought leadership strategy aligned to business priorities.
  • Lead and evolve the Data at Work program, owning the research agenda and translating proprietary data into compelling, media-ready narratives.
  • Establish and elevate BambooHR's external POV on HR and workplace trends through proactive thought leadership.
  • Drive proactive media relations, including pitch development, reporter engagement, and rapid response to timely news moments.
  • Build and manage a strong bench of internal subject-matter experts for commentary and industry visibility.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product Marketing and Analyst Relations to support launches, innovation storytelling, and report inclusion.
  • Own external news cadence and distribution to increase consistent visibility across traditional and AI-influenced discovery channels.
  • Define and track PR performance metrics, standardizing KPIs to demonstrate impact on brand visibility and credibility.

What You Need to Get the Job Done

  • 8+ years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, or a related field
  • Demonstrated success leading data-driven or research-based PR programs
  • Strong media relations experience, including pitch development and rapid response
  • Proven ability to translate complex topics—data, product innovation, market trends—into compelling stories
  • Experience operating autonomously with strong senior-level judgment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience)
