Job description

Clearance: Clearance Level: U.S. Citizen with Secret clearance

Location: APG, MD (Remote)

Position Summary

The Systems Architect provides technical leadership in the design and evolution of large-scale tactical communications architectures. This role focuses on future-state design, integration strategy, and modernization of Army and joint network capabilities, bridging operational requirements with emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop end-to-end tactical network architectures integrating RF, SATCOM, and IP transport
  • Define architecture frameworks aligned to DoDAF and Army network modernization strategies
  • Lead design of multi-domain, multi-transport communications systems (LOS, BLOS, SATCOM, 5G, etc.)
  • Ensure interoperability across:
    • Army tactical systems
    • Joint and coalition networks
    • Commercial and cloud-based services
  • Guide technology insertion and modernization efforts
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend integration into program baselines
  • Lead architectural reviews and technical decision boards
  • Provide subject matter expertise on:
    • RF propagation, link budgets, and waveform selection
    • SATCOM system design and integration
    • Network scalability, resiliency, and survivability
  • Develop architecture artifacts, roadmaps, and technical strategies
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical direction across programs

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (Master's strongly preferred)
  • 1015+ years of experience in systems/network architecture
  • Deep expertise in:
    • Tactical Army communications systems
    • SATCOM (TDMA/FDMA, terminals, modems)
    • RF communications and transmission systems
    • IP networking and transport architectures
  • Experience developing architectures across system-of-systems environments
  • Strong understanding of DoDAF and enterprise architecture frameworks
  • Experience interfacing with Government leadership and stakeholders

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience with PEO C3T, PM Tactical Network, or similar programs
  • Experience with line-of-sight (LOS) and transmission engineering concepts such as waveforms, antennas, and link performance
  • Cloud/network convergence experience
  • Active TS clearance preferred

Travel

  • Up to 2030% (fielding, exercises, integration events)
