Job Description
About The Position
As the Salesforce Solution Architect at KIPP Foundation, you will serve as the primary technical authority for our Salesforce platforms-a hands-on architect and principal developer responsible for platform strategy, enterprise solution design, and delivery across KIPP's national Salesforce ecosystem.
You will partner with technology leadership, administrators, developers, product owners, business stakeholders, and implementation partners to deliver scalable solutions across NPSP, Nonprofit Cloud, Experience Cloud, Data Cloud, Agentforce/Einstein AI, enterprise integrations, and DevOps governance, while maintaining high engineering standards, strong platform governance, and long-term sustainability.
Responsibilities
Solution Architecture & Integrations
• Design and implement scalable Salesforce solutions aligned with KIPP's enterprise technology strategy, translating business requirements into durable, high-quality technical architectures.
• Architect integrations across Salesforce, Azure, SQL Server, and third-party systems using REST/SOAP/Bulk APIs, Platform Events, Change Data Capture, and middleware patterns, while defining API standards, security controls, and monitoring practices
• Provide technical oversight, architecture review, and code review for external contractors and consulting partners, ensuring solution quality, maintainability, security, and alignment with KIPP standards.
Platform Strategy & Governance
• Own the Salesforce platform roadmap including org strategy, sandbox and environment management, security model, data architecture, deployment processes, and release management.
• Establish data governance standards including data modeling, data quality, master data management, and platform best practices across the organization.
• Monitor platform health through capacity planning, license optimization, performance tuning, and proactive management of technical debt.
• Apply Salesforce Well-Architected Framework principles across solution design, development, and contractor-delivered implementations.
NPSP & Nonprofit Cloud
• Own KIPP's Salesforce NPSP architecture including donor and constituent data models, fundraising workflows, engagement automation, and nonprofit best practices.
• Lead planning and execution strategy for migration from NPSP to Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud, including data mapping, gap analysis, coexistence planning, and phased transition roadmap.
• Define nonprofit-specific customization standards aligned with Salesforce's nonprofit roadmap and KIPP's operational needs.
Technical Leadership & Delivery
• Serve as the hands-on architect and principal developer for KIPP's Salesforce platform - a senior individual contributor who leads through technical expertise, engineering standards, and cross-functional influence. You will provide architectural direction and quality oversight to external contractors and consulting partners..
• Make key architectural decisions on declarative versus programmatic solutions based on governor limits, scalability, performance, maintainability, and long-term platform health.
• Lead engineering standards across code architecture, trigger frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, source control, deployment automation, testing, and release management.
• Act as the primary escalation point for complex production issues and Zendesk escalations, including performance bottlenecks, integration failures, data integrity incidents, end-user support, and platform troubleshooting, ensuring timely resolution and minimal business disruption.
AI, Data Cloud & Experience Cloud
• Design and implement Agentforce, Einstein AI, Einstein Copilot, and prompt engineering solutions with responsible AI guardrails including controls, transparency, and bias mitigation.
• Architect Data Cloud strategies for unified profiles, audience segmentation, AI-driven personalization, and real-time activation across constituent and staff experiences.
• Design Experience Cloud portals, communities, and self-service solutions using LWC, personalization, and mobile-responsive best practices.
Skills and Mindsets
  • Mission and Student Focus: Demonstrates passion and commitment to KIPP's mission and possesses the desire and ability to uphold KIPP's Core Values: Focus on Excellent Results, Collective Impact, and Courageous Action.
  • Self-Management: Demonstrated record of setting ambitious goals and achieving them with consistency; uses quantitative and qualitative data to define goals, monitor progress, address obstacles, and adjust plans so systems and workstreams achieve desired outcomes.
  • Work Management: Sets a clear vision for complex bodies of technical work, develops agile project plans, manages competing priorities, and ensures work is replicable through clear documentation, sustainable processes, and high-quality delivery standards.
  • Process Management: Develops, codifies, and improves cross-team processes that support Salesforce platform governance, release management, data quality, integration standards, and long-term system sustainability.

  • Communication and Change Management: Translates complex technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives and actionable plans for technical and non-technical audiences; supports change adoption through stakeholder engagement, documentation, training, and transparent communication.
  • Collaboration: Builds productive working relationships with technology leaders, administrators, developers, product owners, business stakeholders, implementation partners, and external consultants to deliver durable solutions aligned to shared goals.
