Job description

Job Title: AI Platform Engineer Type: Contract Compensation: $72/HR Work Model: 100% Remote Role Overview

We’re looking for an experienced AI Platform Engineer to help bring AI architectures to life in a secure, scalable cloud environment. In this role, you’ll work closely with platform architects to build and enable AI solutions that meet enterprise standards for security, compliance, and governance—especially within a regulated healthcare setting.

You’ll play a key role in engineering reusable platform components, automating guardrails, and empowering development teams to deliver responsible AI solutions at scale.

What You’ll Do

  • Build & Configure AI Platforms: Translate AI architectures into scalable cloud solutions across Azure and integrated platforms using infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines. Develop reusable modules, landing zones, and core AI services.
  • Enable Governance & Guardrails: Implement policy-as-code, security controls, and compliance requirements (e.g., data protection, audit logging, access controls) to ensure all AI workloads meet regulatory and enterprise standards.
  • Support Developers: Create templates, starter kits, and self-service tools that enable teams to build AI solutions quickly and safely. Provide documentation and hands-on support as needed.
  • Ensure Reliability & Performance: Monitor platform health, usage, and cost; support incident response and continuous improvements; and maintain documentation, runbooks, and standards.

What You Bring

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of cloud/platform engineering experience, including 2+ years with Azure (or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Bicep), CI/CD pipelines, and cloud security practices
  • Working knowledge of AI/ML services (e.g., Azure OpenAI, vector databases, model APIs)
  • Experience supporting regulated environments (e.g., HIPAA, PCI)
  • Strong understanding of cloud identity, networking, encryption, and secrets management

Nice to Have

  • Experience across Azure, MuleSoft, and Salesforce ecosystems
  • Background in healthcare or other regulated industries
  • Familiarity with AI governance frameworks (e.g., NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001)
  • Experience with RAG architectures, document intelligence, or agent-based AI
  • Relevant certifications (Azure, MuleSoft, Salesforce)
