Job Duties:
The Business Analyst serves as the primary liaison between UW-Oshkosh functional offices and the UW System PeopleSoft development team, ensuring that institutional business needs are clearly understood, documented, and effectively addressed. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the operational integrity of the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions student information system by combining knowledge of university business processes with the technical communication skills necessary to bridge functional and development teams.
The Business Analyst partners with staff in key functional areas including the Registrar, Financial Aid, Student Accounts, and Admissions to support day-to-day PeopleSoft operations, coordinate system updates, and manage the lifecycle of development requests. The position requires a strong understanding of higher education administrative processes, experience with enterprise systems, and the ability to translate complex business requirements into clear, actionable documentation for technical teams.
This role is responsible for preparing functional staff for PeopleSoft updates and PUM releases, troubleshooting issues related to system workflows and third-party integrations, authoring design documents for new development requests, and coordinating unit and system testing efforts. The Business Analyst also serves as a first point of contact for functional users experiencing system issues, providing triage and escalation support before engaging the development team.
Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Develops and assesses opportunities for new unit staff training opportunities
  • Serves as a project lead for lower level IT staff providing guidance on specific project goals, outcomes, and technological components
  • Provides advanced procedural and technical guidance to unit staff regarding technology usage and management
  • Performs complex data analyses and reporting
  • Designs, develops, and implements complex data reporting and business intelligence systems
  • Provides guidance to lower level staff in the design, development, and implementation of data reporting and business intelligence systems
  • Makes recommendations in the selection of technology solutions to align with business strategies
  • Provides direction for the mapping of business processes using advanced process-mapping methodologies
  • Serves as a subject matter expert to institutional and unit leadership on critical technology issues

Required Qualifications:
  • Three or more years of experience in a business analyst or functional analyst role supporting enterprise administrative systems in a complex organizational environment
  • Demonstrated experience gathering and documenting business requirements and translating them into functional specifications or design documents for technical teams
  • Experience supporting or coordinating system testing, including unit and system testing activities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience troubleshooting issues within enterprise application workflows or system integrations

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a higher education environment with student information or administrative ERP systems (PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Banner, Workday Student, Ellucian, or similar)
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions in any functional area (Registrar, Financial Aid, Student Accounts, Admissions, or similar)
  • Experience working with remote or shared-services development teams
  • Familiarity with system integration concepts and third-party application connectivity

Education:
Bachelor's Degree or 3+ years of experience in a related field.
