Job description

Primary Purpose

The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) are responsible for enforcing safety programs to ensure a safe and healthy work environment on Constructiv Administered Construction or industrial sites (specifically Data Centers). The SSHO monitors compliance with federal, state, and company safety regulations, identifies hazards, and works proactively to prevent accidents, injuries, and illnesses.

Travel

Travel is required – up to 90%. 90% is required due to assignment being on site/physical location, living in temporary housing. Onsite is Monday - Friday with occasional off hours work, nights and weekends as needed.

Current Project Locations: We are actively hiring for projects located in Chicago, IL, and Miami, FL. Project assignments are based on business needs and candidate preference, when possible.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily site safety operations and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies
  • Maintain the Site Safety and Health Plan (SSHP)
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and hazard assessments 
  • Enforce safety rules, regulations, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Monitor subcontractor compliance with safety requirements
  • Identify unsafe conditions or behaviors and implement corrective measures immediately
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and perform manual tasks for extended periods


Minimal Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma

Certification / License

  • OSHA 30 

Work Experience

  • 2+ Years General Construction (Safety Professional Role).

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards 
  • Strong attention to detail and hazard recognition skills
  • Experience in commercial construction or industrial safety 
  • General computer competency



Preferred Job Requirements

Education

  • Associates or Bachelor of Science or similar.  

Certification / License

  • OSHA 500
  • OSHA 510
  • CHST, STC, ASP, CSP, CSHO or similar.

Work Experience

  • 2+ Years Commercial Construction (Safety Professional Role) 
  • 5+ Years General Construction (Safety Professional Role).    

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities 
  • Experience in construction or industrial safety 
  • Relevant certifications 
  • Experience with EHS / Project Management Software
  • Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint or similar Programs.    
  • Experience with Procore 


Compensation

  • Constructiv is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The annual salary for this role is $75,000.00 - $105,000.00. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short term and long-term incentives.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.  The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders.  The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Up to 80% travel and valid Driver’s License required.
