A Senior Project Engineer at DB E.C.O. North America is a versatile engineering professional who combines deep technicalย expertiseย in CBTC, other rail systemsย with strong project managementย and system integrationย capabilities. The Senior Project Engineer shallย be experiencedย across all phases of the V-Cycle (per EN50126) including but not limited to system concept, system definition, system specification, risk management, requirements management, design management, interface management, verification, validation, testing, commissioning, and certification. The role shall supportย DB E.C.O. North America'sย infrastructure group, while also supporting business development activities.ย
Tasks & Responsibilities:ย
- Provide expert technical consultancy and lead technical deliverables throughout the project system's lifecycle to ensure project deliverables align with client expectations, industryย standardsย and regulations.ย
- Serve as technical lead for signal systems engineering with a focus on CBTC and other signaling system related deliverables, providing specialized knowledge and guidance to projectย teamsย and acting as the primary technical interface with clients and suppliers.ย
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, risks, and stakeholder communication; lead and coordinate supplier proposals, studies, quantitative analyses, and technical workshops, ensuring on-time, on-budget completion and adherence to scope and quality resulting in the highest level of client satisfaction.ย
- Prepare project proposals, including the creation of methodologies, budget estimations, and project timelines.ย
- Support business development initiatives (approximately 10-20% of the role) by contributing to client acquisition strategies,ย preparingย and delivering presentations, andย maintainingย strong client relationships.ย
- Contribute to the strategic development of signal systems engineering services by enhancing service offerings andย monitoringย external market trends toย identifyย and secure future project opportunities.ย
- Attend business fairs, client meetings, and industry conferences toย representย DB E.C.O. North America, build professional networks, and promote business growth.ย
- Support the client feedback process and drive continuous improvement in service delivery to meet and exceed client expectations.ย
- Mentor and educate consultants and engineers on signaling and systems engineering principles, promoting skills development, professional growth, and knowledge sharing within the team.ย
Requirements:ย
- A bachelor's degree in engineering (B.Sc.).ย ย
- At least 10 years of related experience in engineering and/or consulting for railway projects; 15 or more years preferred.ย
- At leastย 6ย years of hands-on experience with CBTC systems, including successful delivery on a minimum of two (2) CBTC projects; experience with one or more other rail systems is a plus.ย
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards,ย regulationsย and safety requirements.ย
- Expertiseย in writing technical specifications and technical proposals.ย
- Strong leadership and decision-making qualities areย required.ย
- Demonstrable technical and project management experience, including managing scope, schedule, and budget on complex rail projects and the ability to perform under pressure; PMP or equivalent certification is a plus.ย

We offer an annual gross salary betweenย $128,500 and $193,000 USD + bonusย (for US based employees) or $131,000 and $222,000 CAD + bonus (for Canada based employees) for full-time employment, depending on professional qualifications and experience.
