What is a Remote Robotics Engineer job?

A Remote Robotics Engineer designs, develops, and tests robotic systems while working from a remote location. They use simulation tools, software, and cloud-based platforms to build and program robots for various industries, such as manufacturing, healthcare, and automation. Communication and collaboration with teams are typically done through video calls, online project management tools, and remote coding environments. This role requires expertise in robotics software, hardware integration, and control systems, alongside strong problem-solving skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Remote Robotics Engineer position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Robotics Engineer, you need a strong background in robotics engineering, programming (such as Python or C++), and experience with embedded systems, supported by a relevant degree in engineering or computer science. Familiarity with industry tools like ROS (Robot Operating System), simulation software (Gazebo or MATLAB), and version control systems (Git) is commonly required, along with relevant certifications. Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivation, effective communication, and the ability to work independently are highly valued in remote settings. These abilities ensure the successful design, testing, and deployment of robotics solutions while collaborating virtually with interdisciplinary teams.

What are some typical challenges a Remote Robotics Engineer might face, and how are they addressed?

Remote Robotics Engineers often encounter challenges related to hardware access, coordination with on-site teams, and troubleshooting physical systems from a distance. To address these issues, engineers frequently utilize remote desktop tools, simulation platforms, and detailed documentation to diagnose and resolve problems without being physically present. Regular video meetings, thorough written communication, and close collaboration with on-site personnel help bridge the gap between remote and in-person work. Proactively coordinating schedules for hands-on testing and leveraging cloud-based development environments can also improve project efficiency and outcomes.

Physical AI Engineer - Simulation & Synthetic Data

Build the Future of Robotics with Physical AI

We're building realworld Physical AI systems-where learning agents interact with physical machines. This role is tailored for an AI Robotics Engineer with a strong reinforcement learning (RL) mindset, someone who wants to train, evaluate, and deploy intelligent behaviors that emerge through interaction, not just perception.

You'll work handson with NVIDIA Omniverse, physicsbased simulation, synthetic data, and foundation models to train agents that learn to act, adapt, and generalize in complex environments. This is a builder role: fast iteration, scalable training, and direct transfer from simulation to physical robots.

What You'll Do

  • Build highfidelity, physicsbased simulation environments in NVIDIA Omniverse / Isaac Sim for training and evaluating robotic agents.
  • Design and run reinforcement learning and imitation learning pipelines using simulationgenerated and synthetic data.
  • Train and tune policies for control, planning, and decisionmaking, emphasizing robustness and simtoreal performance.
  • Integrate foundation models (GPTclass, Claude / Opus, multimodal models) to support reasoning, task decomposition, or humanintheloop learning.
  • Drive simulationtoreal transfer, ensuring learned behaviors perform reliably on physical robotic systems.
  • Collaborate with robotics, controls, and perception engineers to deploy learningbased systems end to end.

Requirements

  • 5-8+ years of experience in robotics, reinforcement learning, simulation, or applied machine learning.
  • Strong handson experience with reinforcement learning, imitation learning, or learningbased control.
  • Proven experience building and training agents in simulation environments (synthetic data, domain randomization, curriculum learning).
  • Experience working in the NVIDIA ecosystem (Omniverse, Isaac Sim, USD pipelines strongly preferred).
  • Experience applying or integrating foundation models (e.g., GPTbased or Claude / Opusstyle models) into robotics or decisionmaking workflows.
  • Strong Python skills; ability to build and scale training pipelines.
  • Builder mindset with a track record of moving learning systems from experiment to deployment.
  • Must have hands-on experience training robotic agents or systems (in simulation and/or real-world environments).

Nice to Have

  • Modelfree or modelbased RL at scale
  • Simtoreal transfer techniques (domain randomization, system ID, hybrid control)
  • Physics engines, realtime systems, or robotics middleware
  • Experience operationalizing learned policies on physical robots

Work Environment

  • Remote / hybrid (USbased)
  • Occasional domestic and global travel
  • Flexible working hours aligned to experimentation and training cycles

Why Join

You'll work on learningdriven robotics systems where intelligence is earned through interaction with the world-not just inferred from data. If you're excited by agents that learn, fail, adapt, and ultimately succeed in the real world, this role is built for you.

--- This description is optimized to attract senior, handson AI robotics engineers with strong reinforcement learning and simulation expertise.
