Mindful Gentle Healing Counseling Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) to join our team in a full-time remote capacity. • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments to evaluate the psychological, emotional, and functional status of elderly clients, identifying specific needs and treatment goals.
• Provide both individual and group counseling sessions focused on emotional issues arising from aging, such as loss, loneliness, and significant life changes.
• Work collaboratively with healthcare teams, including physicians and nursing staff, to develop and implement comprehensive care plans that address the unique mental health needs of geriatric clients.
• Educate family members and staff on effective communication techniques and strategies to enhance the emotional well-being and overall quality of life for elderly individuals.
• Facilitate grief and loss counseling sessions, assisting residents and their families as they navigate end-of-life issues with sensitivity and compassion.
• Implement cognitive stimulation programs and innovative mental health interventions aimed at promoting mental acuity, engagement, and well-being among elderly clients.

The primary focus of this role is on the geriatric population, working with clients who are experiencing a range of mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, grief, and adjustment disorders. The counselor will also tackle issues related to dementia, cognitive decline, and the psychological impacts of chronic illness in older adults. Understanding the cultural and socio-economic backgrounds of clients will be crucial in delivering effective and personalized care.

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
• A minimum of four years of recent experience in mental health counseling, particularly with geriatric clients.
• Specialized training or certifications in geriatric mental health and an understanding of aging-related issues and challenges.
• Demonstrable experience in employing evidence-based therapeutic interventions aimed at promoting mental well-being in older adults.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with elderly clients and their families.
• Empathy and cultural competence to support individuals from diverse backgrounds, ensuring inclusivity and respect in care.

• Experience with telehealth and remote counseling practices.
• Familiarity with community resources available for elderly individuals and their families.
• Prior experience working in a community health clinic or similar setting.
