Key Responsibilities
  • Client Assessment: Conduct detailed assessments to thoroughly understand clients' mental health histories, presenting problems, and psychosocial context, which are critical for developing effective treatment strategies.
  • Diagnosis: Utilize DSM-5 diagnostic criteria to accurately diagnose clients with mood disorders, ensuring that assessments form a foundation for tailored treatment.
  • Treatment Planning: Collaboratively create individualized treatment plans with clients, incorporating evidence-based methods and aligning with their specific goals and needs.
  • Client Psychotherapy: Deliver effective psychotherapy interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), or mindfulness-based strategies focused on treating mood disorders.
  • Collaboration with Psychiatrists: Work closely with supervising psychiatrists to coordinate care, including medication management and follow-ups for clients who are receiving pharmacological treatments alongside psychotherapy.
  • Crisis Intervention: Provide urgent support and interventions for clients experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms, ensuring safety and immediate care when needed.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily work with clients who are struggling with mood disorders, enabling them to navigate their challenges through supportive counseling. Qualifications
  • A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LCSW, or LMHC in the state of New York.
Preferred Experience
  • At least two years of post-licensure experience specializing in mood disorders is preferred, particularly in an outpatient setting.
