RemoteIf you are a current Adventist HealthCare employee, please click this link to apply through your Workday account.Adventist HealthCare seeks to hire an experienced Coder for our Inpatient Rehabilitation Department who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing.
As a Coder, you will:
Identify and provide appropriate and accurate diagnosis and procedure codes for services provided as well as during the chart review process
Proactively and actively monitor the CMS website for changes to the IRF PPS that could affect code assignment
Be involved with the clinical team on a regular basis so the ICD codes can accurately represent each case based on each individual patient's concurrent medical and functional conditions
Work with physicians to review documentation for ICD codes for accuracy
Participate in quarterly audits to ensure accuracy and compliance
Query into and review medical records to identify better documentation and achieve coding accuracy
Maintain a strong partnership and strong communication with the Prospective Payment System (PPS) coordinator to communicate ICD diagnosis codes.
Partner with the AHC HIM coder to verify the ICD codes on the UB-04 and the IRF-PAI to reduce delays in billing, coding errors and denials in order to increase CMI and 60% rule compliance.
Qualifications include:
Associates degree required
Successful completion of an approved coding program or recent graduate of a health information management (HIM) program
At least 1 year coding, abstracting and discharge analysis experience in a hospital Health Information Management (HIM) department
Certified or eligible for certification through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) as one of the following:
Registered Health Information Management Technician (RHIT)
Registered Health Information Management Administrator (RHIA)
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
