$25.19 - $44.31*This is a temporary position*Job Description Summary:

Provide clinical nutrition consultation, programs, and education to cancer patients across the continuum of the cancer experience including treatment, secondary prevention, cancer recurrence and palliative care.

Primary Key Performance Areas:

KPA 1 - Product Knowledge

  • Solid knowledge of clinical nutrition with emphasis on nutrition needs of cancer patients (nutrition impact symptom and nutrition therapies, malnutrition, enteral/parenteral nutrition, cancer prevention and survivorship).

  • Knowledge of the Nutrition Care Process as it relates to the nutrition needs of cancer patients and ability to expertly apply all steps of the process.

  • Provide individualized nutrition assessments, counseling and nutrition education based on patients' specific cancer therapies and nutrition needs.

  • Work in partnership with health-care team and community resources to provide continuity of nutrition services for patients and their families across the cancer continuum.

  • Establish priorities for nutrition-care delivery based on urgency and complexity of nutrition interventions.

KPA 2 - Resources

  • Practice reflects "best practice" based on scientific research, systematic literature review, expert opinion, and professional judgment.

  • Attend education programs to maintain status as effective and knowledgeable resource regarding patients' nutrition needs.

KPA 3 - Compliance and SOPS

  • Maintains Standard Operating Procedures of compliance ensuring requirements are communicated and managed according to accreditation standards, HIPAA and state licensure requirements.

KPA 4 - Communication and Customer Service

  • Ensure effective communication and premier customer service with internal and external customers.

  • Conduct counseling and/or education sessions utilizing appropriate interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Excellent counseling skills and the ability to relate to a multi-ethnic community and varied learning levels.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish productive working relationships with multidisciplinary clinic teams providing patient's comprehensive care.

KPA 5 - Navigation and Documentation

  • Appropriately document patient communications in EMR according to departmental SOP/JBIs.

Position Qualifications/Requirements:

Education:

  • Minimum of Bachelor of Science in nutrition from an ACEND-Accredited program.

  • Advanced degree in the field of nutrition preferred.

Previous Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of clinical nutrition with extensive experience in oncology nutrition (medical/surgical/radiation oncology)

Office experience:

  • Good working knowledge of computer usage in the workplace

  • Excellent verbal/writing skills

  • Experience documenting in EMRs

  • Work with Microsoft 365 Suite

  • Experience with telehealth platforms

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Must maintain Dietetic Licensure or Certification in state(s) of assignment.
