Are you a risk control professional with a passion for helping organizations identify hazards, improve safety practices, and reduce losses?

We're seeking a Senior Risk Control Consultant (aka internally as a Senior Risk Servies Representative) to join our team and serve as a trusted advisor to policyholders, underwriting partners, and internal stakeholders. 

*** This role supports Commercial Property & Casualty underwriting through field evaluations of commercial property, operational, fleet, agribusiness, and management exposures. This is NOT an Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Information Security, or Enterprise Risk Management position. ***

In this highly visible role, you'll evaluate commercial risks, provide expert loss control recommendations, and partner with clients across a variety of industries to strengthen their safety and risk management programs. You'll also have the opportunity to mentor colleagues, influence underwriting decisions, and make a meaningful impact on customer success.

This role involves frequent travel therefore this role is meant for a person based in the local Kansas City area.

We'll count on you to:

  • Conduct on-site surveys of commercial properties, industrial operations, agribusinesses, and commercial vehicle exposures to assess physical hazards, safety practices, and risk controls.
  • Evaluate business operations and management practices to identify safety concerns and areas for improvement.
  • Analyze loss history, claims trends, and accident investigations to determine root causes and develop loss prevention strategies.
  • Assess large and complex risks, leveraging advanced technical expertise to support underwriting and account management decisions.
  • Consult with policyholders on safety initiatives, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation programs.
  • Develop and deliver training, presentations, and educational resources to clients and internal teams.
  • Prepare comprehensive risk assessment reports with actionable recommendations to reduce loss exposure.
  • Partner closely with Underwriters to support risk selection, pricing considerations, and ongoing account management.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert, providing mentorship, guidance, and regulatory expertise to colleagues.
  • Stay current on industry regulations and standards, including OSHA, DOT, NFPA, ICC, and other applicable requirements.
  • Complete administrative responsibilities such as reporting, scheduling, communication, and documentation.
Qualifications

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational/Industrial Safety, Engineering, Agricultural Science, Insurance, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of Property & Casualty Risk Control, Loss Control, Safety, Insurance, or related experience.
  • Strong understanding of commercial insurance coverages and risk management principles.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, NFPA, and other applicable safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service mindset with exceptional problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel frequently, including overnight travel.
