Base pay range $60.00/hr - $75.00/hr Program Manager – Sustainability Risks and Controls Remote 4 Month Contract Description We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Program Manager to lead stakeholder engagement initiatives aimed at enhancing internal controls over sustainability and climate-related disclosures. This role will serve as a key liaison across cross-functional teams, ensuring compliance with evolving sustainability reporting frameworks, while driving control maturity and reporting readiness. Day to Day Conduct structured interviews with internal stakeholders across sustainability, finance, risk, legal, and operations to assess current reporting processes and control gaps.

Build a comprehensive understanding of how climate and sustainability data is collected, verified, and reported. Investigate data, develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and implement controls. Reconcile data differences, compare data sets, and identify discrepancies.

Document and validate control activities related to ESG data flows and narrative disclosures. Collaborate with internal audit, controllership, and ESG reporting teams to design and implement internal controls over non-financial and climate-related data. Recommend control enhancements to address regulatory readiness, materiality, data accuracy, and third-party assurance requirements.

Support the development of control frameworks aligned with SOX-like rigor for ESG metrics. Define project plans, milestones, and status reporting to leadership around ESG control improvements. Coordinate cross-functional working groups to align on ownership, timelines, and accountability for key reporting processes.

Stay current with global ESG disclosure mandates (e.g., SEC Climate Rule, CSRD, ISSB) and translate requirements into actionable control design recommendations. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Sustainability, Environmental Science, or a related field; MBA, CPA, or sustainability certification (e.g., SASB FSA, GRI) a plus. 5–8 years of experience in program management, ESG/sustainability reporting, risk management, or internal controls.

Strong understanding of internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO) and ESG reporting standards. Advanced competency in Microsoft Excel. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.

Experience working in or with publicly traded companies or highly regulated industries preferred.
