Auditing and Tax Service Consultant

Proposals Due: May 26, 2026, at 5 pm EST to christian@innovateedunyc.org

Project Timeline: 12 Months (Approx. July 1, 2026 - June 30th 2027)

1. Organizational Overview

About InnovateEDU:

InnovateEDU is a non-profit that accelerates ecosystem development and disrupts system challenges in education through policy, practice, and technology. We focus on bridging gaps in data and research to create an equitable, inclusive future for all learners


2. Project Purpose & Objectives

InnovateEDU invites qualified consultants or firms to submit proposals for a 12-month audit and tax services engagement. The following timeline will look as follows:

  • RFP Distribution: May 11th, 2026
  • Deadline for Proposals: May 26th, 2026
  • Interviews with Finalists: May 26th - June 5th, 2026
  • Final Selection: June 24th, 2026
  • Fieldwork: October 2026
  • Audited Financial Draft Reports Due: December 2026
  • Final Presentation to Board: December 2026
  • 990 and CHAR500 Draft Reports Due: March 2027
  • Submission of 990 and CHAR500: March 2027

3. Scope of Work (SOW)

The engagement will take place over a 12-month period and must include the following components:

  • Annual Financial Audit: Audit of InnovateEDU's consolidated financial statements for the fiscal year ending June 30th.
  • Tax Filings: Preparation of Federal Form 990 and CHAR500 in New York State.
  • Systems & Tech Review: Given our mission, we seek a firm that can provide a robust Management Letter with specific insights into our internal controls regarding digital financial tools and remote-work expense management.

4. Deliverables

The successful consultant will provide:

  • Audited Financial Draft Reports
  • Final Audited Financial Statements
  • Presentation of Reports to Board
  • 990 and CHAR500 Reports

5. Timeline & Budget

  • Project Start Date: July 1 2026
  • Project End Date: June 30 2027

6. Submission Guidelines

  • Detailed Budget: Breakdown of costs by phase/deliverable.

7. Evaluation Criteria

Proposals will be evaluated on:

  • Nonprofit Expertise: Specific experience with educational technology and policy-focused NGOs.
  • Audit Team: The stability and seniority of the staff assigned to the InnovateEDU account.
  • Cost: Total "not-to-exceed" fee, including any administrative or travel expenses.
  • Peer Review: Only firms with a "Pass" rating in their most recent AICPA Peer Review will be considered.
