About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically strong Senior Revenue Accountant to join our growing finance team. In this role you will own end-to-end revenue accounting and reporting across our portfolio of licensed software, SaaS subscriptions, website development projects, implementation engagements, and ongoing support services. You will be a key voice in applying and evolving our ASC 606 policies, partnering cross-functionally with Sales, Legal, and FP&A, and serving as a subject-matter expert for internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Own and maintain revenue recognition policies and procedures in accordance with ASC 606 across all revenue streams - licensed software, SaaS, website-based products, implementation, and support services.

  • Prepare and review monthly revenue journal entries, deferred revenue roll-forwards, and related account reconciliations.

  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of variable consideration, contract modifications, and multi-element arrangements.

  • Manage accounting for costs related to revenue-generating activities including costs to obtain and fulfill customer contracts (ASC 340-40), software publisher/royalty costs, and related capitalization and amortization schedules.

  • Monitor and reconcile deferred commission and contract cost balances; assess for impairment as needed.

  • Serve as an active contributor to the monthly and quarterly close process, including preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance explanations.

  • Prepare and maintain bad debt reserve calculations; analyze aged accounts receivable and communicate trends to management.

  • Reconcile intercompany accounts, including transfer pricing, and investigate and resolve variances on a timely basis.

  • Support additional general ledger responsibilities and ad hoc accounting projects as assigned.

  • Support sales and use tax research, nexus analysis, and related accounting entries in partnership with Tax and outside advisors.

  • Partner with external auditors; prepare PBC schedules and respond to audit requests efficiently and accurately.

  • Collaborate with the billing, collections, sales operations and customer success teams to resolve customer accounting questions and billing disputes.

  • Work closely with FP&A and business leaders to provide revenue and gross margin reporting and analysis that supports decision-making.

  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and internal controls.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with meaningful exposure to revenue recognition in a technology or software company.

  • Deep working knowledge of ASC 606, including multi-element arrangements, contract modifications, and principal vs. agent considerations.

  • Hands-on experience with revenue accounting across SaaS, subscription and perpetual licensing, professional services, and web-based product lines.

  • Solid understanding of ASC 340-40 contract cost accounting (costs to obtain and fulfill).

  • Experience with bad debt reserve methodologies (aging analysis, historical loss rates, specific identification).

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and review PBC schedules and support external audit processes.

  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, complex formulas); proficiency in a major ERP system (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar).

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical accounting concepts to non-accounting stakeholders.

  • CPA preferred
