Remote Retail Store Setup information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Retail Store Setup Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Retail Store Setup Specialist, you need a strong understanding of e-commerce platforms, retail operations, and project management, often bolstered by relevant experience or certifications in retail or digital commerce. Familiarity with tools like Shopify, WooCommerce, POS systems, and inventory management software is typically required. Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills are essential for coordinating with teams and vendors remotely. These abilities ensure efficient store launches, seamless operations, and a positive customer experience in a competitive online retail environment.

What is a Remote Retail Store Setup?

A Remote Retail Store Setup refers to the process of establishing and managing a retail store’s operations, inventory, and systems from a remote location, rather than being physically present at the store. This often includes tasks such as setting up online point-of-sale systems, configuring inventory management software, and coordinating with vendors and staff virtually. With the rise of e-commerce and cloud-based tools, remote setup allows businesses to launch or support new retail locations efficiently, saving time and resources. It is especially useful for chains expanding to multiple locations or for entrepreneurs opening online or hybrid stores.

What are some common challenges faced when setting up a retail store remotely, and how can they be addressed?

One of the main challenges in remote retail store setup is coordinating with on-site teams and vendors without being physically present, which can lead to communication gaps or delays. To overcome this, professionals often rely on clear project management tools, regular video calls, and detailed checklists to ensure all parties remain aligned. Additionally, ensuring the store layout and merchandising standards are met remotely may require extensive photo or video documentation and virtual walkthroughs. Building strong relationships with local staff and providing thorough remote training are also key to successful execution.

Job description

Fractional CEO - Lead Multiple Small Law Firm Owners (Remote)
Remote (W-2) | Must reside in AZ, CO, FL, GA, IL, MD, MI, NC, NJ, NY, PA, TX, VA, or WA
Compensation: $110,000 Base + Performance Compensation | $182,000+ On-Target Total Compensation
Read This Before You Apply
This is an executive operating role, not a sales role, not a consulting/advisory role, and not a single-location management role. To be considered, you must be able to answer yes to all three:
  1. Did you hold the title of CEO, President, GM, Operations Executive, or EOS Integrator - with that title, not an informal equivalent?
  2. Did you carry direct, personal accountability for P&L or full operations of a company with $500K-$50M in annual revenue (not a single retail location, not a department, not a book of business)?
  3. Is your career track record of leadership and execution - not sales, business development, or account management?

If you answered no to any of these, please don't apply - you won't be a fit, and we'd rather point you toward a role that is.
About the Role
HTM (How To MANAGE a Small Law Firm) is the nation's leading provider of Fractional C-Suite services for solo and small law firms - recognized on the Inc. 5000 every year since 2013. As Fractional CEO, you become the outsourced CEO, COO, or President for a portfolio of law firm owners who can't otherwise afford full-time executive leadership.
This is full-time, W-2, and you are accountable for business results - the same way you'd be as an in-house CEO. We provide the client portfolio. There is no business development, no sales, no growing your own book of business.
What You'll Do
  • Build and execute business growth strategies with firm owners
  • Improve profitability and cash flow
  • Develop organizational structure and leadership teams
  • Coach owners through strategic decisions - and stay accountable until results improve
  • Help owners transition from working in the business to leading it
Required Background
  • 10+ years of executive leadership experience, with the title to prove it (CEO, President, GM, COO, Operations Executive, or EOS Integrator)
  • Direct, personal ownership of P&L and/or operations for a company in the $500K-$50M+ revenue range - this must be a company-wide or division-wide scope, not a single store, branch, or territory
  • Proven, measurable success improving profitability, cash flow, and business performance
  • Experience building teams, systems, and organizational accountability
  • Comfort managing multiple client relationships simultaneously

Bonus: you've personally taken a small business from under $500K through $3M, $5M, or $10M+ in revenue - we especially want to hear from you
This Role Is Not a Fit If:
  • Your career background is primarily sales, business development, or account management - including SaaS sales, insurance sales, or any commission-driven role. This applies even if the role carried a leadership or "VP" title.
  • Your operational experience is analyst-level (business analyst, RevOps, data/BI) rather than P&L ownership. Building dashboards or KPI systems for executives is not the same as being the accountable executive.
  • Your management experience is confined to a single location (e.g., one retail store), rather than full company or multi-unit accountability.
  • Your background is consulting or advisory only, without hands-on operational execution and accountability for results.
  • You prefer large corporate environments with layered management and existing infrastructure.
  • You avoid difficult conversations or accountability conversations with owners.
  • You're looking for a traditional, single-company executive role.
Compensation & Benefits
  • $110,000 Base Salary
  • Performance Compensation | $182,000+ On-Target Total Compensation
  • Medical, dental, vision (75% employer-paid)
  • Company-paid short- and long-term disability
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Pet insurance, legal insurance
  • Unlimited PTO + company closed Thanksgiving week + one additional mandatory paid week off
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Access to executive leadership and business development programs
  • 100% Remote
Why Join HTM?
You've already proven you can build and lead a business. Now apply that experience across multiple entrepreneurs who need an executive partner - without finding clients, selling services, or running your own consulting practice. Combine the stability of a full-time W-2 role with the variety of serving as CEO for multiple growing businesses.
