Job Description Summary

Takes primary responsibility for expanding and supporting undergraduate research and publication opportunities at Miami. These may include a research forum and peer reviewed journal, as well as support for course-based research. Will think strategically about how to engage undergraduates in research across campus, and advocate for resources and appropriate workload credit for faculty members who supervise undergraduate research. Will track and report on undergraduate both in and outside the classroom.

Job Description

Essential Duties:

  • Expand undergraduate research & publication opportunities

  • Support faculty and students engaging in undergraduate research

  • Oversee undergraduate research awards

  • Support undergraduate students in applying for external research fellowships and awards

  • Work closely with Honors College to support research opportunities and projects for Honors students

  • Support departments to integrate research into capstone courses and other classes

  • Track undergraduate research both in and outside the classroom

  • Provide reports as requested regarding amount and type of undergraduate research at Miami

  • Work closely with Assistant Director for Professional and Experiential Learning

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree

  • Three years of experience in designing and organizing programming

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree

  • Experience supporting undergraduate research

  • Experience editing journals

  • Experience organizing conferences or other events
