Job description

Summary

The Genetic Selection Lead provides strategic long term genetic selection research, technology, insights and marketing direction (3 – 5 year strategy) to Innvictis Seed product strategies in order to strengthen Innvictis Seed Solutions’ product portfolio. 

This role will support the Eastern Cornbelt: Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Missouri. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver genetic expertise and strategic development activities, including but not limited too, reviewing genetic libraries 2-3 years in advance of commercialization, identify genetic research plots in search of ideal genetic x trait combinations for entire region, stay ahead of and adopt new technology without significant risk and assist with training and positioning during sales season
  • Develop national and regional product strategies in collaboration with marketing and sales management and provide product direction to sales management team including delivering consistent Innvictis messages and strategies
  • Deliver market analyses, measurement and product training, that includes, the prioritization of key opportunities, identifying new markets and segment and understanding competitive products and training.  Provide key product training to Innvictis and SGS field sales and external customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex data and apply practical analysis to drive commercially relevant, market‑focused decisions
  • Facilitate the development and training of market and demand planning tools 
Typical Education

•    Requires a MS or PhD OR substantial experience (>20 years) in seed industry in field/research and genetic evaluation positions.

Relevant Experience

15+ years related experience and/or training

Other Information

Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for meeting the minimum requirements.

•    Requires >85% travel during growing season
•    Requires >70% travel in off season training and discussing key genetic characteristics of each selection
•    Must engage all 5 major seed genetic houses and work closely with their geneticists, breeders and biologists to identify high potential lines 3-5 years before commercialization.
•    Must be an effective communicator and trainer in addition to strong biological skills.
