This role is designed for professionals who prefer the flexibility of a remote work setting while still contributing to a community health clinic. Our virtual platform ensures seamless communication with clients, healthcare teams, and families, allowing for effective collaboration and real-time support. Throughout the workweek, you will maintain a structured schedule from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, fostering a work-life balance that promotes well-being.

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly clients, accurately identifying their specific care needs and developing individualized treatment plans.
• Provide one-on-one and group counseling sessions that address emotional challenges related to aging, such as coping with loss, loneliness, and significant life changes.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to design and implement holistic care plans, ensuring a unified approach to patient well-being.
• Educate families and staff on mental health strategies that promote emotional well-being and improve the quality of life for elderly individuals.
• Offer specialized grief and loss counseling for residents and families managing end-of-life issues, helping them navigate these difficult transitions.
• Implement cognitive stimulation activities and evidence-based mental health interventions aimed at enhancing mental acuity and promoting positive emotional states in older adults.

Your primary focus will be providing mental health care to seniors facing a multitude of challenges, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, grief from loss, and issues arising from life transitions, such as relocation to assisted living or coping with declining health. Patients may also encompass diverse backgrounds, requiring a culturally attuned approach to enhance their mental well-being.

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) designation in Washington state.
• A minimum of four years of recent experience in geriatric counseling and mental health support.
• Demonstrated understanding of evidence-based interventions tailored specifically for elderly populations.
• Strong communication skills to establish rapport with seniors and effectively engage family members in the therapeutic process.
• Empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a passion for supporting diverse older adults.

• Additional training or specialization in geriatric mental health, including familiarity with aging-related issues and mental health disorders common in older adults.
• Experience using telehealth platforms for patient evaluations and counseling.
• Knowledge of ethical and legal standards relevant to geriatric mental health practice.
• Ability to perform thorough assessments and establish individualized treatment strategies that align with client goals.
