Position Overview
Caring Heart Counseling is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Therapist to provide high-quality outpatient psychotherapy services to teens, adults, couples, and families. The ideal candidate is passionate about supporting individuals experiencing emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges through evidence-based, client-centered care.
This position offers flexibility for remote, in-office, or hybrid work arrangements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide outpatient mental health therapy services to individuals, couples, and families experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, mood disorders, stress-related concerns, behavioral challenges, and relationship difficulties.
- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, mental health evaluations, and diagnostic impressions.
- Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals tailored to each client’s clinical needs.
- Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Trauma-Informed Therapy
- Solution-Focused Therapy
- Mindfulness-Based Interventions
- Person-Centered Therapy
- Motivational Interviewing
- Monitor client progress and update treatment plans as clinically appropriate.
- Conduct suicide risk assessments, safety planning, crisis intervention, and stabilization support when necessary.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and HIPAA-compliant documentation, including:
- Diagnostic Assessments
- Progress Notes
- Treatment Plans
- Safety Plans
- Discharge Summaries
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, primary care providers, schools, EAPs, and other community providers to coordinate care when appropriate.
- Provide telehealth and/or in-person therapy services in accordance with North Carolina regulations and ethical standards.
- Participate in supervision, case consultations, staff meetings, and continuing education opportunities.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
- Active North Carolina licensure required:
- LCSW / LCSWA
- LCMHC / LCMHC-A
- LMFT / LMFT-A
- or equivalent
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience providing mental health therapy preferred.
- Experience working with trauma, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and relationship concerns preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic communication skills.
- Ability to establish rapport and maintain professional therapeutic boundaries.
- Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as SimplePractice preferred.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining collaboration within a clinical team.
Preferred Skills
- Experience providing telehealth counseling services.
- Knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria.
- Experience working with diverse populations and culturally responsive care.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and time-management skills.
