Remote Regression Testing information

What is remote regression testing?

Remote regression testing is a software testing process where testers validate that new changes or updates to an application have not adversely affected existing functionality, all while working from a remote location. This approach uses online collaboration tools, test automation frameworks, and cloud-based environments to execute and manage test cases. Remote regression testing is essential for distributed teams and organizations with flexible work arrangements, ensuring continuous software quality without the need for on-site presence. It supports efficient detection of bugs introduced by recent code changes, allowing teams to maintain high-quality standards in rapidly evolving software projects.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote regression testing professional?

To excel in Remote Regression Testing, you need a solid understanding of software testing principles, test case design, and experience with regression testing methodologies, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with automated testing tools such as Selenium, JUnit, or TestNG, as well as version control systems like Git, is typically required, and certifications like ISTQB can be advantageous. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and clear communication skills are essential soft skills for collaborating remotely and identifying issues efficiently. These competencies ensure that software updates do not introduce new defects, maintaining product quality and reliability in distributed work environments.

What are some typical challenges faced by remote regression testers, and how can they be overcome?

Remote regression testers often encounter challenges such as communication barriers with development teams, time zone differences, and ensuring that test environments closely mirror production systems. To overcome these, it's important to establish clear communication channels—such as regular video meetings and detailed documentation—coordinate schedules for overlap with key team members, and use cloud-based testing tools that facilitate consistent and reproducible test environments. Proactively addressing these challenges helps ensure effective collaboration and high-quality testing outcomes.

What is the difference between Remote Regression Testing vs Remote Test Automation Engineer?

AspectRemote Regression TestingRemote Test Automation Engineer

Remote Regression Testing focuses on manual or semi-automated testing to ensure recent changes haven't introduced new issues, while Remote Test Automation Engineers develop and maintain automated testing frameworks to streamline testing processes. Both roles require testing knowledge but differ in technical depth and automation skills.

Job description

About Us

At Alteva RCM, we're dedicated to helping healthcare providers thrive through expert revenue cycle management, strategic insight, and innovative solutions. We're always looking for passionate, driven professionals who want to make a meaningful impact, grow their careers, and be part of a collaborative team committed to excellence.

About the Role

Alteva RCM is standing up a dedicated quality function for a high-impact operational technology team. This role is one of two founding QA hires, working alongside a Senior QA Engineer to build test coverage, automation, and process from the ground up.

This is a hybrid manual and automation QA role. You will be expected to manually validate features before release, execute regression testing, document results clearly, and help automate repeatable test cases as the QA function matures. A key goal of this role is to reduce the amount of testing currently being handled by managers and operations leads.

You'll be hands-on across a mix of Salesforce-native tools, AI-assisted workflows, and backend services, all actively in build. The work is a mix of manual testing, test case writing, automation development, and workflow documentation. You will help build a mature process from scratch

What You'll Do

  • Write and execute test for features across the internal product portfolio
  • Execute smoke, happy path, and regression testing based on release priorities and guidance from the Senior QA Engineer
  • Support and maintain automated test runs, including nightly checks where appropriate
  • Perform manual and automated testing in Salesforce sandbox environments and support production validation workflows
  • Contribute automation scripts and help maintain the automation framework established by the Senior QA Engineer
  • Support release readiness by executing regression plans and clearly documenting test results, defects, and remaining risks
  • Document business workflows and test coverage in clear, accessible formats
  • Work with operations team leads to understand how the business actually uses the tools you're testing
  • Clearly document test results, open defects, and release risks so product, development, and operations can make informed decisions
  • Investigate bugs and defects: reproduce, document, and track through to closure
  • Flag patterns when the same type of issue keeps appearing
  • Support regression testing cycles ahead of releases

What We're Looking For

  • 2-4 years in QA with experience in both manual and automated testing
  • Exposure to API testing, including REST and/or SOAP, is a plus
  • Basic SQL skills for data validation
  • Familiarity with version control such as Git
  • Salesforce experience required, with comfort in sandbox-based testing and production validation support
  • Hands-on experience writing automation scripts, with language and framework flexibility because the function is being built from scratch
  • Solid test case writing skills: clear, thorough, and reproducible
  • Comfortable working in .NET-adjacent environments
  • Good communicator, with the ability to work directly with developers, operations, and product
  • Detail-oriented and consistent: you catch things others miss and document them well
  • Background in healthcare RCM, medical billing, or complex operational workflows is a strong plus
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and change. This is a build environment where processes, systems, and structure are still being created

Why This Role

This is a ground-floor opportunity on a team that's growing fast. You'll have direct exposure to the full product lifecycle, work alongside experienced QA and product leadership, and build skills in AI tool testing, an area most QA engineers have not worked with yet. Alteva supports healthcare operations at scale. Quality work here has real business impact, not just internal metrics.

Tools & Environment

  • Salesforce, our core case management system
  • .NET-based services
  • Azure, in use for AI tooling
  • Jira for task tracking
  • Microsoft Teams

Location & Availability

This is a remote role requiring time zone overlap with two teams: our operations team in Israel and our development team in US Eastern time. You'll need a few hours of daily overlap with each. Eastern Europe time zones work well for this, though other locations will be considered if the overlap requirement is met.

Benefits

Alteva RCM offers our employees a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, employee assistance plan, paid family leave, short-term disability and life insurance. We also provide a 401(k) plan with employer match, flexible spending accounts, employee discount program and an employee referral program.
