Job description

Regional Lead - Government & Industry Affairs

VGW is an interactive entertainment company, harnessing technology and creativity to deliver world-class, free-to-play online social games.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Government & Industry Affairs team in the United States and are currently looking for 2 x Regional Leads to join the team.

Reporting into the VP of Government Relations, this role translates VGW's lobbying strategy into targeted, state-specific lobbying campaigns managing a roster of external contract lobbyists, developing relationships with state government officials, and delivering actionable field intelligence back to central leadership.

This role is suited to a seasoned state-level government affairs professional who is comfortable managing external partners, navigating diverse state political environments and operating with a high degree of autonomy within a clearly defined strategy.

We're open to candidates based anywhere in the US, and this role can be performed remotely.

The salary range for this role is USD $160,000 - $210,000 per year.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Serve as the primary accountability manager for all external lobbyists within the assigned regional portfolio: set performance expectations, respond to their queries in a timely manner, review deliverables, conduct weekly check-ins, and provide written performance assessments.
  • Translate the company's corporate policy positions and lobbying strategy into state-specific advocacy messaging - tailoring arguments, framing, and messenger selection to local political dynamics.
  • Develop and maintain productive, credible relationships with state legislators, committee staff, state attorneys general offices, and state gaming and consumer protection regulators.
  • Participate in cross-regional strategy sessions to ensure consistency of messaging, share field intelligence, and coordinate on multi-state legislative campaigns.
  • Represent the company at hearings, fundraisers, conferences, and stakeholder engagements within the portfolio.
  • Monitor and track all active and emerging legislation across assigned states that affects social gaming, sweepstakes operations, consumer protection, age verification, advertising and related policy areas.

What you will bring to the role:

  • 7-12+ years of experience in state government, state-level lobbying, legislative affairs, or political campaigns, with direct exposure to multiple state legislatures or regulatory agencies in B2C organisations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing external vendors, consultants or contract lobbyists against defined deliverables and performance standards.
  • Working knowledge of gaming regulation, sweepstakes law, consumer protection, or adjacent policy areas - or a credible track record of rapidly building substantive expertise in new regulatory sectors.
  • Strong political credibility and established relationships with key government officials in the assigned regional portfolio.
  • Experience in a multi-state lobbying role in organisations in fast-moving industries such as technology, fintech, RMG and/or gaming.
  • Proficiency with legislative tracking tools.
