What is a remote records manager?

A Remote Records Manager is a professional responsible for organizing, maintaining, and securing an organization’s records and information from a remote location. They develop policies for record retention, oversee electronic document management systems, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. By working remotely, they use digital tools to manage records, coordinate with team members, and ensure that information is accessible to authorized personnel while maintaining data security. This role is essential for organizations with distributed teams or those prioritizing digital transformation and data privacy.

This often involves regular virtual meetings with department heads to understand their documentation workflows, providing training on compliance standards, and coordinating with IT to implement secure systems for storing and retrieving records.
