Technical Writer SharePoint Skills and some Development skills

Vienna, VA OR Winchester, VA OR Pensacola, FL Hybrid - 3 days onsite, 2 days remote

Rate is Negotiable

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Writer with 5+ years of experience who brings a strong blend of technical documentation expertise, SharePoint administration, and development capability.

This role is responsible for creating, managing, and enhancing technical documentation while designing and maintaining SharePoint-based knowledge management solutions.

The contractor will partner with technical and business teams to deliver clear, user-friendly, and scalable documentation that supports enterprise systems and initiatives.

Responsibilities

ยท Develop, write, and maintain technical documentation including user guides, admin guides, and SOPs

ยท Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly content

ยท Design and maintain SharePoint sites, libraries, navigation, and metadata structures

ยท Build and enhance SharePoint solutions using lists, libraries, web parts, and workflows

ยท Manage document lifecycle processes including version control, governance, and archival

ยท Develop and enforce documentation standards, templates, and style guidelines

ยท Collaborate with business and technical SMEs to gather requirements and validate content

ยท Participate in Agile/SDLC processes to ensure documentation aligns with project delivery

ยท Create diagrams, workflows, and visuals to enhance content usability

ยท Identify opportunities to improve documentation processes and leverage Microsoft 365 tools including Copilot

Qualifications

ยท Bachelorโ€™s degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Information Systems, or related field

ยท 5+ years of experience in technical writing or documentation development

ยท Experience supporting enterprise systems, applications, or technical teams

ยท Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

ยท Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, actionable documentation

ยท Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

ยท Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
