How much do remote quantum computing jobs pay per year?

As of Aug 22, 2026, the average yearly pay for remote quantum computing in the United States is $122,251.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $75,000.00 and $156,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is remote quantum computing?

A Remote Quantum Computing job involves researching, developing, or applying quantum computing technologies while working from a remote location. Professionals in this field may work on quantum algorithms, quantum hardware, or software development for quantum computers. Roles often include quantum researchers, software engineers, or data scientists specializing in quantum applications. These jobs typically require expertise in quantum mechanics, linear algebra, and programming languages like Python or Qiskit. Many companies and research institutions offer remote opportunities due to the growing demand for quantum expertise globally.

What are some typical challenges faced when working remotely in quantum computing?

One of the main challenges is collaborating effectively with colleagues across different time zones, which requires clear communication and planning to keep projects on track. You may also encounter difficulties accessing specialized quantum computing hardware, as much of the work happens through cloud-based simulators and limited direct hardware access. Staying current with this rapidly evolving field requires ongoing self-education and initiative. However, most teams foster a supportive environment through regular virtual meetings, mentorship, and shared documentation to help overcome these challenges.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in remote quantum computing?

To thrive in Remote Quantum Computing, you need strong knowledge of quantum mechanics, algorithms, and programming languages such as Python or Qiskit, usually supported by an advanced degree in physics, computer science, or a related field. Familiarity with quantum computing platforms like IBM Quantum Experience or Microsoft Azure Quantum, and certifications in quantum computing, can be beneficial. Exceptional problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, and self-motivation are vital soft skills for success in a remote setting. These competencies ensure you can design, test, and collaborate on complex quantum solutions while effectively contributing to dispersed teams.

Job description

Senior Product Marketing Manager

Boston, MA, USA (Boston preferred; remote candidates in the US will be considered)

Summary

QuEra Computing is the leader in commercializing quantum computers using neutral atoms, which is widely recognized as a highly promising quantum modality. Based in Boston and built on pioneering research from nearby Harvard University and MIT, we are developing large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computers to tackle classically intractable problems. QuEra operates the world's largest publicly accessible quantum computer, available over a major public cloud and for on-premises delivery. We are passionate about both the science we advance and the inclusive, collaborative culture we cultivate.

We are seeking a Senior Product Marketing Manager to own how the market understands QuEra's products and progress. Quantum computing is a field where bold claims are common and trust is scarce. Your job is to do the opposite of hype: translate real technical achievements, from error-correction milestones to system-level capabilities, into positioning, messaging, and sales tools that are specific, credible, and effective with the world's most demanding technical buyers.

You will work across QuEra's full portfolio, including our Gemini-class systems, the Aquila analog quantum computer, premium cloud access, and on-premise deployments, and across our three core market segments: HPC centers, national quantum programs, and enterprise innovators. You will report to the Chief Commercial Officer and partner daily with product management, quantum scientists, and the commercial team.

Why this role exists

You will own the bridge between QuEra's technical roadmap and the market's understanding of it, turning cutting-edge science into positioning that helps customers choose QuEra with confidence.

Responsibilities

  • Own positioning and messaging: Develop and maintain messaging frameworks for QuEra's systems and services, tailored to HPC centers, national programs, and enterprise innovators, and keep them current as our roadmap advances.
  • Translate the science: Work closely with quantum scientists, QEC researchers, and product managers to convert technical milestones and publications into market-facing narratives that survive expert scrutiny.
  • Enable the commercial team: Create and maintain the tools sales needs to win: presentations, battlecards, one-pagers, objection-handling guides, and proposal content, and measure whether they work.
  • Drive competitive intelligence: Track competing quantum modalities and vendors, maintain clear and honest positioning versus superconducting, trapped-ion, and photonic approaches, and brief internal teams on market shifts.
  • Support product launches: Partner with product management and communications on launch messaging, web content, webinars, analyst briefings, and conference presence.
  • Be the voice of the market: Bring segment and win/loss insights back into product and roadmap discussions so that customer needs shape what we build and how we talk about it.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in physics, engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of B2B product marketing or technical marketing experience in deep tech, such as quantum computing, HPC, semiconductors, scientific instruments, or enterprise infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to master complex technical subject matter and write about it with precision and clarity; strong preference for specificity over hype.
  • Track record of building messaging frameworks and sales enablement assets that measurably improved commercial outcomes.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; comfortable engaging both PhD-level scientists and executive buyers.
  • Experience running cross-functional projects with product, science, sales, and communications teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a technical field or an MBA.
  • Working knowledge of quantum computing concepts (qubits, error correction, logical qubits, quantum modalities) and the quantum vendor ecosystem.
  • Experience marketing to government programs, national laboratories, or HPC centers, including familiarity with public procurement dynamics.
  • Experience supporting analyst relations and public speaking at industry events.
  • A portfolio of technical marketing content: messaging frameworks, launch materials, white papers, or competitive analyses.

QuEra is committed to cultivating a diverse work environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We highly value diversity in our current and future employees and do not discriminate (including in our hiring and promotion practices) based on race, religion, color, national origin, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, disability status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
