Remote Purchasing Manager information

What does a remote purchasing manager do?

A Remote Purchasing Manager oversees an organization's procurement activities from a remote location, ensuring the timely acquisition of goods and services at competitive prices. They evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, monitor inventory levels, and manage purchase orders, all while collaborating with internal teams and external vendors virtually. This role often requires strong communication, analytical, and negotiation skills, along with the ability to use procurement software and tools for remote coordination.

How does a remote purchasing manager effectively collaborate with suppliers and internal teams despite working off-site?

A Remote Purchasing Manager relies heavily on digital communication tools to coordinate with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and track orders. Regular virtual meetings, clear documentation, and efficient use of procurement software help maintain strong relationships and ensure all parties are aligned. Internally, they work closely with finance, operations, and inventory teams to forecast needs, manage budgets, and resolve any supply chain issues. Building trust and maintaining open lines of communication are key to overcoming the challenges of remote collaboration in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote purchasing manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Purchasing Manager, you need a solid understanding of procurement processes, supply chain management, and vendor negotiation, typically supported by a degree in business, supply chain, or related fields. Familiarity with procurement software systems like SAP Ariba, Oracle, or Coupa, as well as relevant certifications such as CPM or CPSM, is highly beneficial. Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills are essential for building relationships and managing purchasing tasks from a distance. These capabilities ensure cost-effective purchasing, efficient supplier management, and seamless remote operations in a competitive business environment.

Can you work remotely in procurement?

Remote purchasing managers can perform their duties from any location with internet access, using procurement software and communication tools. Many companies now offer remote or hybrid roles for procurement professionals, especially those with skills in negotiation, supplier management, and data analysis. However, some positions may require on-site visits or local supplier interactions depending on the company's policies and industry needs.

How much is a remote purchasing manager paid?

A remote purchasing manager's salary typically ranges from $60,000 to $100,000 annually, depending on experience, industry, and location. Many roles also offer benefits such as bonuses, health insurance, and flexible schedules, with some positions requiring proficiency in procurement software and supply chain management.

Is a remote purchasing manager a stressful job?

A remote purchasing manager role can involve stress due to managing supply chain disruptions, meeting deadlines, and negotiating with suppliers. The job requires strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities, which can contribute to workload pressure. However, working remotely may reduce some in-office stressors and allow for flexible scheduling.

What jobs can I transition to from a remote purchasing manager?

A remote purchasing manager can transition to roles such as supply chain manager, procurement director, logistics coordinator, or operations manager, leveraging skills in vendor management, negotiation, and inventory control. These positions often require experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and strong analytical abilities.

Job description

The Manager, Accounting Services Operations is responsible for the overall performance, profitability, and scalability of Dine Technology's Back Office accounting services. This role provides operational leadership for the US and offshore accounting teams supporting Back Office accounting services, ensuring client deliverables are completed accurately, consistently, and on time while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.

The Manager is responsible for developing the operational framework that supports the service line, including creating and refining processes, standard operating procedures, workflows, and quality standards. As Dine Technology expands its service offerings, this role will design and implement the operational structure required to support new services and revenue streams.

Working closely with the U.S. team, the Manager monitors key performance indicators, capacity, and resource utilization to improve productivity, profitability, and team performance. While the U.S. team owns the client relationship and the offshore team executes the day-to-day accounting work, this role ensures the service delivery model is standardized, scalable, and positioned for continued growth.

This role is remote in the US. We are unable to offer work sponsorship for this role.

Who we are:

Dine Technology is an outsourced accounting and technology consulting firm serving mid-sized restaurant operators using Restaurant365. Established in 2016, we bring structure, clarity, and control to restaurant accounting through rigorous processes and deep system expertise. In addition to our core accounting and technology services, we provide cash management and balance sheet review services for RASI software and are actively expanding our capabilities to build broader accounting service offerings for Back Office Accounting Software.

Buyers Edge Platform stands at the forefront of revolutionizing the foodservice industry through technology, purchasing power and partnerships. We are dedicated to empowering stakeholders across the entire foodservice ecosystem (operators, distributors, manufacturers) with efficiency and unprecedented visibility. With a diverse portfolio of over a dozen brands, our mission is clear: to reduce costs, streamline the foodservice supply chain, and propel the industry from manual to automated.

Today, we are one of the largest players in foodservice, with over 200K operator locations across North America and over $50 billion of aggregated spend volume. Our commitment to foodservice excellence is proven in four distinct areas of value: Digital Procurement Network, Fresh Solutions, Supply Chain Management, and Software. Buyers Edge Platform is not just a provider – we are a strategic partner on the journey towards a more efficient, connected, and automated future for the foodservice industry.

Your impact:

  • Lead the daily operations of the Back Office Accounting Services function.
  • Establish priorities and ensure consistent execution across all client portfolios.
  • Own the operational performance, efficiency, and profitability of the service line.
  • Manage workload, staffing, capacity, and resource allocation to maximize productivity and client service.
  • Monitor operational, quality, and financial performance metrics and implement improvements where needed.
  • Develop, document, and continuously improve processes, SOPs, workflows, quality standards, and training materials.
  • Evaluate existing systems and workflows, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement scalable operational solutions.
  • Design and implement the operational framework required to support new services, revenue streams, and business initiatives.
  • Lead operational improvement initiatives focused on automation, standardization, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for the offshore accounting team.
  • Partner with the U.S. team and offshore leadership to ensure effective communication, coordination, and accountability.
  • Support the resolution of escalated operational and client service issues.
  • Foundational understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting processes, with the ability to effectively support and oversee accounting operations.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Experience leading accounting operations or service delivery teams.
  • Strong operational and systems thinking with the ability to analyze complex processes, identify root causes, and develop scalable solutions.
  • Ability to assess existing workflows and operating models, determine what is effective and what is not, and implement practical process improvements.
  • Proven ability to design, document, and implement new processes, standard operating procedures, and operational frameworks.
  • Ability to translate complex operational challenges into clear, executable action plans and successfully lead organizational change.
  • Ability to develop scalable processes, SOPs, and operational controls.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on efficiency and profitability.
  • Experience using KPIs and operational metrics to drive performance.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and collaborate effectively across U.S. and offshore teams.

About you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting, accounting operations, shared services, or outsourced accounting.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing accounting operations, service delivery, or multi-team environments.
  • Foundational knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
  • Restaurant, hospitality, or multi-unit business experience.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and improving operational processes, standard operating procedures, and scalable service models.
  • Proven experience leading operational change, process improvement, and automation initiatives.
  • Experience working with multiple accounting ERP systems, such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, Restaurant365, or similar.
  • Experience managing offshore or geographically distributed teams preferred.
