• Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly residents to identify individual needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
• Provide both individual and group counseling sessions focusing on emotional challenges related to aging, life transitions, and loss.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to formulate and implement comprehensive care strategies for geriatric clients.
• Educate families and caregivers on enhancing emotional well-being and coping strategies to support elderly residents.
• Deliver grief and loss counseling, helping clients and their families navigate the complex emotions associated with end-of-life issues.
• Design and administer cognitive stimulation programs to promote mental acuity and social engagement among elderly individuals.
• Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of services provided, ensuring compliance with ethical and legal standards in mental health care.

The primary client population includes elderly individuals facing a variety of mental health challenges, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, grief, and substance use disorders. The role requires an understanding of the psychosocial complexities inherent to aging, ensuring that counseling approaches are sensitive to the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our clients. Our counselors play a pivotal role in improving our clients' quality of life by providing tailored support and evidence-based interventions that promote mental health and resilience.

• A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
• A minimum of 4 years of recent experience in geriatric counseling and mental health support.
• Experience working with elderly populations, particularly in counseling settings.
• Understanding of evidence-based interventions tailored for older adults.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with clients and their families.
• Demonstrated empathy and cultural sensitivity in support of clients from diverse backgrounds.
• Capability to create and implement individualized treatment approaches based on unique client assessments.
• Knowledge of ethical and legal standards in mental health counseling, particularly within geriatric care.

• Additional training or specialization in geriatric mental health or aging-related issues.
• Experience utilizing telehealth tools and virtual counseling methodologies.
• Familiarity with cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques specific to older adults.
• Proven track record in developing community resources and support systems for elderly clients.
