Job description

At K2 Medical Research, we are transforming healthcare by delivering tomorrow’s treatments today. As a rapidly growing clinical research organization across Florida, Tennessee, and Rhode Island, we lead multiphasic trials in therapeutic areas ranging from neurodegenerative to cardiometabolic medicine. Our culture is grounded in clinical excellence and a patient-first mission. We are seeking mission-driven individuals ready to play a meaningful role in bringing life-changing treatments to the patients who need them most.

K2 is seeking a Physician Engagement Director to support our Tampa, The Villages, and Winter Garden clinics. This position is responsible for overseeing a team of Regional Navigators embedded within clinical practices, ensuring consistent, high-quality physician engagement and strong integration of clinical research into routine care delivery as a care option.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Engagement and Strategic Initiatives, this leader will help shape and execute enterprise-wide physician engagement strategy, strengthening referral networks, deepening clinical partnerships, and expanding physician awareness of clinical research opportunities as a care option. This individual will function as a field-facing leader, translating enterprise engagement goals into actionable provider-level execution across diverse clinical environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Physician Engagement Leadership: Execute regional physician engagement strategies aligned with organizational priorities. Partner with the VP of Engagement and Strategic Initiatives to ensure alignment across all markets. Drive physician awareness, trust, and participation in clinical research initiatives.
  • Regional Navigator Leadership & Integration: Lead, coach, train and support Regional Navigators embedded within clinical practices. Ensure navigators are effectively integrated into provider workflows and clinic operations. Establish performance expectations, accountability measures, and best practices for field execution.
  • Physician Contracting, Invoicing & Administrative Oversight: Oversee tracking and management of physician contractual agreements related to engagement activities. Ensure accurate and timely invoicing submission and reconciliation for physician-related contractual obligations.
  • Provider Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with physicians, specialists, and clinical leaders. Serve as a senior liaison between K2 Medical Research and provider organizations. Support navigators in strengthening day-to-day provider engagement, performance and communication.
  • Clinical Practice Alignment: Develop deep understanding of assigned practices, including patient populations and specialty focus. Align engagement strategies with clinical workflows and study opportunities. Identify barriers and implement solutions to improve provider collaboration and referral flow.
  • Referral Development & Clinical Integration: Drive physician engagement that supports consistent referral growth into clinical research. Ensure timely communication of study opportunities to providers and care teams. Optimize navigator activity to strengthen provider touchpoints and patient identification.
  • Field Leadership & Development: Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance development for Regional Navigators. Standardize engagement practices across regions to ensure consistency and quality. Conduct field visits and provider engagement activities alongside team members.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with clinical operations, marketing, and study teams to align physician engagement with organizational needs. Incorporate provider feedback into engagement strategy and execution. Support enterprise initiatives focused on expanding clinical research access through physician networks.
  • Performance Metrics & Data Reporting: Oversee physician engagement performance metrics, including participation rates, referral conversion, and engagement activity outcomes. Analyze and track conversation-to-participation rates to identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities. Develop and deliver monthly executive-level metric presentations summarizing regional performance, engagement outcomes, and strategic insights. Use data to continuously refine engagement strategy and improve physician participation outcomes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong background in physician engagement, healthcare partnerships
  • Proven ability to manage performance metrics and drive measurable outcomes
  • Experience with contractual oversight, invoicing processes in healthcare settings
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills with physicians and clinical stakeholders
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and presentation
  • Demonstrated leadership of field-based or embedded teams
  • High level of strategic thinking combined with operational execution

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in healthcare, business, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in physician engagement, healthcare partnerships or related field
  • Prior leadership experience managing teams required
  • Experience in clinical research strongly preferred

Your growth and well-being are our priority. Our comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees includes medical, dental, and vision options, supplemental insurance plans, 401(k) with immediate employer match, generous paid time off, and paid holidays. Most notably, we support a healthy work-life balance through a four-day work week, consisting of 10-hour shifts from Monday through Thursday.
